Golfers, the RBZ 3 wood

  • I haven't hit the irons yet (I'm LH and most of my friends are RH, so getting to actually play clubs without buying isn't usually feasible) but the 3 wood is an absolute cannon. I have no clue what the technology is in this club, but it added 25 yards to my 3 wood. Very smooth feeling club with great control as well.

Anyone have any suggestions on other clubs to look into?

I am in the same boat as a lefty (even though I am right handed). I took a chance last year on the TM R11 driver and had the same outcome. Picked up the 3 and 5 wood a couple of weeks ago. When I close the face and up the loft, I can bomb those clubs.

**Disclaimer: The above results are when I am not fighting bad swing habits. Slowing down and the above results are likely

  • For irons, I've never hit anything more pure than mizunos. Currently playing the MP 33s even though they have seen better days. Just can't justify dropping a grand on a new set. Wanting to swap out the driver (ping g10) for either a r11s, g20, or 910d3. Added the r11 3w to the bag last year and gained about 20 more yrds with it. good from 250 and in now. Also wanting to add the vokey spin milled wedges to the bag 52 & 56. anyone tried them yet? Face is gone on the old wedge

I got the Nike SQ Machspeed Black driver a few weeks ago and picked up some good yardage. The ability to customize the face (loft, lie, open/closed) really helps. I want to look into their woods but I may actually be getting out of woods and more into hybrids. Thinking of pulling my 3W out for a 14-15* hybrid.

I have regular Vokeys and really like them. The only downside I have seen with them is that I have the chrome ones and they are REALLY reflective/distracting. This offseason I may get some work done on them to dull them out. I haven't tried the spin milled but I really like my regulars.

  • I have the regular finish in a 56. The face is so worn down that its not a problem anymore. I really like the Black Nickel finish on the new ones. The regular finish looks more of a satan finish so maybe its not as bad than the old ones. I have a 60 in the oil can finish. With that finish you don't have to worry about glare, but it rusts easily.
I swapped the 2 iron for an 18* hybrid. Has definitely helped. I had to keep the 3w. Hit a few (but not the Nike) and there are some good ones out. Much different than some of the older models

  • Ive also been looking at the Vokey wedges.

I'm about 24 months out of date on equipment...which can be an eternity in technology

that said, I'm a big Mizuno fan. have some custom shafted/weighted MX 300 irons (5-P), Mizuno CLK hybrids (17, 20, 23), a Ping i15 (15.5) fairway wood, and a mix of older Calloway (50, 54) and Titleist (58) wedges. Driver is an older R7 Limited I keep several grams over weight and biased slightly to the heel (makes hitting and controlling a power fade a piece of cake). the course conditions determine which club (hybrid, 5 iron, or wedge) stays in the truck

I don't care for the high spin wedges unless it is a 58 or 60, or you have to play to a lot of elevated, fast greens. With a decent ball, you get enough loft/spin on the approach shots to stop it where you want it. For me, the milled face reduces feel on chips with the 50-54 degree wedges. I have enough trouble controlling distance without having to account for the release. imo, for every stroke you save with the spin, you'll lose 3 on chips

  • RBZ 3 wood has replaced my driver completely. I can get it out there 250 and straight, unlike a driver. Best club I ever purchased.
