Would anybody be interested in a Blue Board "Rivalry" thread....

  • I noticed a few other rivals have them. The Michigan-Michigan St thread has something like 300 pages and a half million views. I just think it would clean up both The Grounds and The Tunnel, let fans have at it on a 247 forum and allow JC, Jamie and crews to do their jobs rather than have to monitor the boards like 3rd grade teachers watching the kids at recess.

    I enjoy football and recruiting talk and I know others from both boards do too. But it seems whenever we get something good going, the class clown then always has to step in and mouth off which leads to all hell breaking loose, blacklisting, locked threads, riot gear, mace, etc.

    All that can be fun too. It just seems like we could all agree to take that elsewhere and make the boards a better place. I'm going to recommend this on The Grounds as well. Just wanted to see the interest over here before I do. I would expect you all might have more participants for a while. Let's face it, talking football with a rival that you haven't beaten in a while can be shitty. But at least there's a place for people to vent or discuss or whatever without half the board's topics concerning the other school (which both sites are very guilty of.) I'd also ask that we try and police these boards ourselves if it;s getting out of hand. Something like "Take it to the Blue Board."

    If it's better for JC and Jamie to keep as many site hits home, we can scrap the idea. I'd rather have to sift through non-sense than hurt their biz.

    Just an idea. Feel free to chime in.

  • Interesting, I thought the VIP icon under your Avatar meant you could read all VTScoop VIP material. Must be there from your Wahoo sub?

    By the way, I'd be for it too if it got rid of the snarky comments from the Wahoos who seem to be coming over here in increasing numbers recently (present company excluded, of course).

    We could make a weekly one on here that no one is allowed to VIP....maybe a Wednesday thread?

    Blue board idea is good if both MOD's would add a link to it on the home boards...Joe, if the Hoos are down for it lets do it one way or the other. Even in the terrible RMB threads there was always good info in the crap. As you know you have a lot of Hoos that like to talk only in the comfortable confines of their own board, if they come here they get baited and banned so easy it isn't even sport.

  • I think it's a real good idea. I would hope people would keep and portray their same image of themselves on each board and not go Jekyll & Hyde.

  • I'd also like to get the go ahead from JC and Jamie just to make sure they're okay with diverting some traffic away. My hope is that it would actually increase the traffic to our sites. Some get turned off by the constant discussion of the dreaded "cousins." And personally, I feel like this rivalry (sorry BigCali but when there are 10 threads in a day that discuss UVa, it's a rivalry,,,albeit one sided for a while now) could use a little more national attention. So folks from Washington state or Arizona who may pop into the thread and read a little back and forth might pay a little more attention to the Virginia and Virginia Tech scores on Saturday afternoons. Some of you may disagree but our program is getting back on the right track. We're not going to win 12 over night but a solid foundation is being laid and the culture is changing. Believe it. Don't believe it....whatever. But I'm a strong believer that both schools being competitive only helps keep the top talent in the Commonwealth and helps grow the game of football at all levels. So maybe if start doing this this on a national board, folks from Washington state or Arizona or Minnesota who may pop into the thread and read a little back and forth might pay a little more attention to the Virginia and Virginia Tech scores on Saturday afternoon. Far fetched I know. But I'm reading a lot about branding right now and think that getting your name anywhere (other than the police blotter) is a good thing.

    How bout we call it a discussion board...you guys will have to win a game or 2 this decade before it should accurately be called any kind of "rivalry" board without eliciting a snicker.

    Well I already named it.....but noted. We don't just have to discuss football either. The basketball match up has been fairly even of late although I'd say the near term looks a little more positive for the Hoos. We can also discuss fishing and hammer throw although those seem to be one sided as well.fishinghammer
