Virginia Tech to offer 2014 OLB?

  • One of the best performances on Saturday at the Next Level Nation 5 Star Showcase was Virginia Beach/Princess Anne OLB Aaron Glover.

The 6-foot-0, 205-pounder with 4.65 speed picked up an offer from Hampton recently, but said on Saturday the Hokies could be the next to offer.

"Hopefully Virginia Tech will be next," Glover said Saturday. "They said they will be the next to offer me. That's what they told my coach,"

An offer from Virginia Tech would have special meaning for "757" prospect.

"It would mean a lot to me if Virginia Tech offered. It would prove that big time schools will offer me, and it would mean a lot if Virginia Tech was the first." He said.

I always loved this kid. Plays a lot bigger than 6-foot-0, 205

An offer for Aaron would be huge in many ways.

Good looking prospect for sure and he does play bigger than his size.

Last summer the Daily Press had an article about the Glover cousins attending the Top Gun Camp in Williamsburg, and quoted Jordan's dad about his older son being recruited by London to Richmond, and knowing what they have in London, and there was no mention of either having interest in VT. Maybe UVA doesn't have room with their tight numbers in 2014.

Hello gentlemen!! This is Aaron's Dad. I truly appreciate all the wonderful things you all have to say about my son. He is indeed a tremendous athlete. His work ethic is second to none. He has been MVP or Top Performer at every regional or national camp since his freshman year. His game film and highlight film is just a testament of his hard work. And not because he is my son, but character will not embarrass a program with mischievous acts. The only reason we have been to UVA so many times and not Tech as of yet is because, UVA invites the entire circle of friends; Tech has never done that. My son and others would have been on multiple trips to Tech. Even with the Tech recruiters talking with Coach Gatlon about Aaron, still no invites; nice things!! But no invites... Many times friends follow friends; they grew up together, played football together and they workout together. However, the inevitable happens, Change! Change!! Change!!! 757Nation!!

  • Mike London invites everybody because he is so desperate he'll try anything to land a prospect. He'll invite the kids preacher and his wife if he thinks it'll land somebody. So its not shocking to me he'll invite a kid plus their friends. I hope you and Aaron come to Junior Day on March 23rd and/or April 6th. And I hope you are here for the Spring game April 20th. The entire staff will get to see him perform and i'm quite sure he'll get that offer.

Hope to see 'em make it out soon, then. Welcome to the board, always good to see more folks from my hometown. (Go Dolphins biggrin)

E: Is Aaron being looked at for whip, rover, backer? Just curious, seems like he could handle any of the three.

Hope you guys can make it to the Spring Game. There really is no comparison once you see both places. The passion, support, academics, community and coaching at VT are hard to beat!

Welcome to the board and thanks for the insight. It does appear change is coming to recruiting the 757 with the recent staff changes. I am sure if there is mutual interest between VT and Aaron the invites to visit will come.

Welcome, sir! I certainly hope you take the chance to visit both schools and gather all the information needed for Aaron to make the best decision for his bright future.

I think you'll find we have a great opportunity at LB, greater development, and a better environment overall.

Great post, and extremely telling. We need to get on these kids earlier, and get all the 757 kids coming at once like UVa is clearly doing. As Aaron's dad goes, friends play a bigger part in this than maybe we want to admit.

This will require some unbiased adult help... but once they visit, the differences will be clear. I'd guess nearly everyone here has been to both schools, and the gaps between the programs are wide.

I'll never understand how some young men with a list of offers can take fewer athletic visits than most of us took academically.

I certainly feel welcome and I also feel the love and sincerity. Obviously, some may assume that our athletes/children are being influenced by a biase sources, but that is NOT the case!!! Friends HONESTLY want to follow friends. The 2014 class grew up together; from rec ball right into high school. Wolfpack and Campostella Titans, 90% of all the top athletes in this class come from these two teams.
The only way I would discourage my son from choosing a program would be if; the staff was unstable or if I felt like the program did not have my son's best interest. Outside of that, I want him to choose. He will have to live there for the next 4 years, so I want him to make his choice and then explain to me why?
The beautiful thing about these athletes is that, they attract other up and coming athletes that want to be just like them or even better; and we train them all.
For sure, we will be there April 6 with a few friends. Hopefully someone will provide some info or itenerary for the day. We would love to come on March 23rd, but we are already scheduled for a Temple visit.
