Decision seems to have just been reversed; VT Alerts says school OPEN tomorrow. Website too.

Yes, Virginia Tech made a mistake. They sent out an email and posted on their website that VT was closed and no classes. They just changed it.
UPDATE FROM Virginia Tech: Virginia Tech will be OPEN Monday Oct. 29. Classes and offices operate per normal schedule.

A little surprised they would close school on Monday anyway. Tuesday maybe.....
I can recall, during my soph year at VT (January 1985), they closed the school when the temp dropped to around 20 below zero (close to 70 below zero chill factor). We had an inch thick of ice around our sliding glass doors (to our balcony) on the INSIDE of the glass!
