While I don't think the offense has as much talent as it has in years past, that should hardly be an excuse for the woeful execution and subpar results. Take a look at Kansas State's recruiting rankings the last several years. (This is Rivals rankings)
2008: 27th, avg stars 2.94
2009: 92nd, avg stars - 2.48
2010: 63rd, avg stars - 2.94
2011: 68th, avg stars - 2.68
2012: 58th, avg stars - 2.76
They have nowhere near as much talent as us and many other programs, and yet they are one of the better teams in the country right now. They don't have any crazy gimmicks on offense, they just execute well and are well-coached. I doubt you will hear them talking about "well we were just one block away" after damn near every game like we seem to do, probably because their players have been taught how to actually execute those blocks on a consistent basis.
Despite not having many explosive playmakers, their offense doesn't look like it's pulling teeth just trying to move down the field. They use the players they have to their strengths and punch you in the mouth.
Beamer in post game interview, "Well, we've played good football at times and we have played inconsistent football at times."
