FWIW VT only offered 2 RBs in 2011 so at worst Holmes was a plan B not plan F... Also UVA did offer Holmes so I guess VT wasn't the only program to see him as a viable D1 player. Also, in this article (http://www.roanoke.com/sports/notebookplus/wb/236376) you can see that Doug Doughty points out that VT offered Holmes around February of 2010, a year before signing day. Just thought I would point out those facts...

I knew he wasn't really a Plan F. I used a little poetic license on that one. UVA did offer Holmes, but his offer was contingent on an early commitment. After we started getting some other guys, he had a non-committable offer. It happens at every school. We didn't pull his offer, so to speak, but had he tried to commit, we would not have taken it at the point in time that he was ready to decide. In the end, it didn't matter, as he wanted to be a Hokie, so there's really no sense in arguing his standing with us. He didn't want to be a Hoo. I just thought I would have a little fun with the Plan F statement.

If that is the case UVA must have ZERO confidence in their QB's then.

Beat me to it damn you. They will have more QB's on the roster than we have RB's, but we have no confidence in our RB's. lol

  • I really don't need your respect, nor your friendship. I put the pictures there because they are my family. A) My father is dying of cancer, so I wanted to put a picture of him with myself and my brother at a UVA game, because that was what he loved to do. B) I just had a daughter in that picture, and I am a very proud father, so that is why there are two of her and I. And, C) my brother is my best friend, and I put a picture of he and I tailgating at a UVA game.

As I said, I could give a shit less what YOU think of me. But, you might want to stop and think about yourself before you call people out for pictures that you know nothing about. I'm not conceited, nor do I have anything offensive in my avatars. I will leave, because I can see that this thread is starting to regress into the same old UVA - VT mudslinging. Sorry that I took up so much of your bandwidth. I look forward to the future meetings between us. So long and good luck.

So UVA can "pull the offer" but VT can't? I guess thats how it works on your board.

London's awesome. Hoo targets get verbal offers, tentative offers, non-committable offers, and finally committable offers.

London: Son, you do realize with the verbal, tentative, non-commitable, and committable offers, UVA is the only school to actually give you 4 offers?

I'll tell you why, because your nancy-ass message board doesn't allow ANYONE to post unless they are VIP paying members, dip-shit. Jamie affected that ban several weeks ago. Does that help clear things up?

You called JC overrated and said his pass protection was laughable. I pointed out that, despite giving up 70lbs and 6-7 inches, he more than handled Kwontie Moore in one-on-one pass pro drills, and Rivals has the video. David Wilson lacked patience and vision, but power....not so much. He looked for the home run a lot, and tried to run around people, but that was because he thought he could beat them that way, not because he feared contact.

Fair enough. I don't agree with the ban that Jamie put in place, but it was asked for by a lot of the members there, so I understand why he did it. I will go back and forth with anyone, so it wasn't me asking for that practice to be put in place. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong and I will freely admit it. For instance, I personally think that David Wilson is a tremendous RB. I really hope that I can get him on my Fantasy team, as this kid has all of the tools you could ask for. I wish he had been a UVA RB. That being said, I mistakenly said he didn't like contact. I guess that I made this assertion while watching him run away from the holes, and try to bounce everything outside. I know the kid has homerun speed, and if he gets a crease, he's gone. I guess I mistook his attempts at always trying to break the big play for his unwillingness to get hit. So, I can admit that I was wrong. Quite frankly, I think that DW is an exceptional RB. Of course, he has some things that he needs to work on, but what rookie RB doesn't? All of this is simply my thoughts. However, there are many Hokie posters that feel that DW did not like contact. Refer back to many of the discussions where some of you complained about the playcalling, as well as execution by some players down near the goal line. You have a big, bruising QB, and he was very effective in those short-yardage situations. But, I have read many times from many VT posters how they thought DW didn't run with power, etc in these situations, and wasn't all that effective. So, perhaps I let that thought cloud my judgment of DW's abilities. In the end, I will say that I have seen DW do many things that were simply unreal. Perhaps he does run with more power than I gave him credit for, so my apologies there.

As for JC, I still maintain my opinion of him. Once again, a great talent, but I am not sold on him being an everydown back. Nothing I have seen, nor heard has changed my opinion of this. You offered a video in a camp setting, but I have seen live game action. But, again, it's only an opinion, and he can certainly prove me wrong. Not that he really cares what one UVA poster says I'm sure. And, lastly, as for Marcus Davis, that whole thing started about an article that was written about him being one of the top 10 athletic freaks in all of college FB. Personally, I disagreed with this article, but that whole thing was written as a writer's opinion. So, my opinion is different than his was. I have seen MD while he played at Ocean Lakes. I never said he was a bad WR. Rather, I said that he was a bad QB, but was pretty athletic. He is simply not as fast as that article claimed either.

  • You just don't get it do you? Why come over here hating on J C Coleman? JC was rated the #3 RB in the country by Rivals, and while Smoke is a very good RB and VT would love to have him, I don't think he'll end up being rated higher than JC was, and Zach Jones certainly won't be.

Not sure that you can accurately determine whether I am a douche or not from the postings on this message board. If you do have this uncanny ability, you surely must be the next Sherlock Holmes. Also, your post sounds a lot like this scene from Talladega Nights. Frankly, you are one Hokie fan that I have no desire to interract with. And, I'm sure the feeling is mutual. Bye now.

    mehulhokie

  • Well, the reigning Super Bowl Giants saw enough in David Wilson to draft him in the first round of the NFL draft, and J C Coleman was rated the #3 RB in the country by Rivals, and VT has sent 3 RBs to the NFL in the past 2 years, and VT has beat UVA 8 games in a row and 12 of 13, but despite all of that in your view it ain't that much. You're either blinded by your love for the Hoos, or yourself.

Bottom line is, you have had some great RBs over the years, Ryan Williams was great. I thought Evans was pretty good, not great. I thought that David Wilson had all of the tools to be amazing, but he never developed the ability to run with power.

Yes, if only he had the power to go with that speed...

The speed is one thing. Everyone knows the track and field All-American is fast. But the chiseled 5-foot-10, 205-pound junior has proved to be a powerful, durable runner. He has 143 broken tackles this year for 956 yards after contact.

  • I've known VB for about 25 years, we're not best buddies by any stretch and I only know I know him because of these photos, he was always a good dude...with a horrible college program to follow. FWIW, he's one of the few over there that can mix it up with us and keep a level head (and ignore those that are simply picking a fight because of his allegiance, it's not that easy, trust me).

Jamie had to pull the bitch move because he was likely getting inundated with complaints

And I am pretty sure he has no idea who I am. Not sure I dunked on him, but I know damn well I hit a lot of 3's on himbiggrin
