JC - respectfully, I don't think you should have reported this. Let LT have his moment on ESPN - the more drama the better "positive" press for VT. When there is a scheduled announcement by the player, and you make a statement a few hours beforehand stealing his thunder - I think that's poor form and won't make any friends over in B'burg.

I will never, ever, ever, ever do that for a public figure like a college player. A high school kid going through a once-in-a-lifetime experience as a recruit (no matter how zany those things get sometimes), I will usually sit on it and let him have his moment, but this isn't that. This is an announcement of a business decision in the real world. I also don't think it means one single thing in terms of non-positive press for Virginia Tech unless ESPNU pulled the broadcast because of our little report, which they aren't going to do. The millions watching from home are going to consider it news because they aren't going to see it here.

I have plenty of friends in Blacksburg I am not worried about losing. The folks that would idiotically be upset about something like this likely don't know me or like me very much anyway.
