What's his status right now? Is he still gradually improving health-wise each week or did he have a set-back? I haven't seen much of him the last couple of games, but figured it was just because he still isn't well enough to displace a healthy Taylor-Tyler tandem.

@RTD_MikeBarber: VT's Bud Foster said LB Tariq Edwards (leg) is closer to contributing but doesn't expect him to be a big factor vs. Clemson on Sat. #Hokies

No, he's only taken one RS. But you are only eligible for a Medical RS if you miss two full seasons due to injury, which he hasn't.

They have a little bit of a flexible terminology, I think it says something like, if the first redshirt was due to cirumstances beyond the player's control. Of course injury fits that description, but it allows for other extenuating circumstances. I think Tariq's redshirt was very clear cut and strictly for him to learn the system, and imporve himself for the following year
