I don't even know what to say. Frank was able to establish a strong brand in beamerball. I thank him for it. The university thanks him for it. ESPN thanks him for it. It's an awesome accomplishment to create a successful brand. Literally a staple for ESPN. Sandman, special teams blocking kicks, stifling lunchpail defense, a ball control offense which punished defenses. Physical football. It was great entertainment. As a hokie 4 life, I was proud as hell. Don't get me wrong, I am still proud of the university. When our robotics team won the world championship I was stoked. When I read about all the cutting edge research I am like "hell ya". Right now I feel kinda bad for Beamer. His inability to seperate friendship from business, and his inability to recognize that offensive decisions. should be left to a compitent o coordinator could be his downfall. I say could not would. However, fans are pissed. ESPN is pissed. With the way things are with social media this could get ugly fast.
The fact that Billy Hite has retained all the power he has over the past 20+ years is clear. He and Frank run this team and to still have Billy calling plays is absurd. Only way this is going to change is for Frank and Billy to retire. Getting a new OL coach, new QB coach, and new OC isn't going to change a thing. It still will be the Frank and Billy show. Frank pays Billy over 200K a year for his advice. That should tell you something.
Frank and Billy are attached at the hip. It is a horrific truth and they will make every call on VT football together.
This will likely not end well unfortunately. The one thing we have going are the other train wrecks of programs in our recruiting footprint. Psu,ut,uva, umd, and the unc probation.... I've said for 5 yrs that vt will never in my lifetime see a period where all of our local recruiting rivals are down all at once - chance of a lifetime and the fruits of that opportunity are now on the field....debacle. My bet is that unc will be the one to take advantage, even after doing it once and cheating they will do it again. Very sad.

Billy Hite makes our 4th down decisions, WTF is going on??? I can't believe everyone is not completely shocked by this. Maybe it's because the majority of the board already knew this, news to me though.
I'm not even a little shocked. In fact I thought it was always assumed to be the case. There is no other reason for Hite to be on the sideline. Actually there is no other reason for him to still be on staff. He is still the second or third most influential person in VT football. The debate would be between him and Bud.

When the gurus don't refute it is confirmed
Iezzi is basically a "guru" correct, I mean he is a staff writer who brings in scoops and what not and he's the one that dropped the bomb, so yeh I'd say its true. Funny because I remember often people posting on here why in the hell is Hite on the sidelines with a headset on and everyone, including myself just kind of laughed about it because its silly, but didn't think much of it and then today we find out Hite is advising Frank on in game offensive decisions, LOL good lord. I posted in another thread about who exactly is our offensive coordinator, the answer is simple, our D coordinator is Bud MF Foster, our O coordinator is Ocain/Stiney/Frank/Hite. LOLOLOL/
