John Graves.... On his visit I talked to him before the walk. I really thought he was UVa bound. I told him to take a look at Lane. Told him Lane will Rock while Scott Stadium would put you to sleep. Well if the Hokies were in town it would not. He smiled.

The big lineman from Cincy(Name?)............my lil cuz told him "Where else can you here Sandman before you come on field?". Also got a huge laugh.

Nn VT related Willie Willians was an awesome recruitment to follow. Kid was loaded with talent, but a headcase

Yea...Marquise Williams, Travis Hughes, Kirven were the biggest disappointments, but I've only been following recruiting a few years.
The most pleasant surprise for me was JC Coleman. A lot of people seemed to have varying opinions and not only did he pick the good guys, he did it early, and became a great recruiter himself.

And the award for 'the recruiting story that just wouldn't end' goes to Leon Mackey.

Though maybe not a surprise, was devastated with Brooks and Parham to UVA on signing day, but we did okay the following year with the 911 duo of Hall and Adibi. My disappointment was thankfully short-lived. KJ still has to rank as biggest surprise get of the last 20 years..."stay after him Whammy!!!". As for biggest surprise disappointment, have to say Jonathan Hannah and Melvin Aleaze at the time. In the end, someone was looking out for us Hokies on both accounts.

One of the biggest surprises to me was just last year. With the struggles we had at Oscar Smith and all the talk that JC Coleman was headed to the hoos, was shocked how quickly that seemed to turn and his decision to go to VT.

Biggest disappointment has to be Brooks...Parham to me was always a hoo, but just couldn't see a talent like that headed to an unproven UVA program.

I've only been following recruiting since the year we got RW, 2008 class. I'll put it like this the guy I was happiest we got was DW, somehow I knew just from his film and reading about his games that he would be a great one. There are some bad ones too though. How we lost Jared Askew to UT is still hard to fathom, I think OFS just didn't like VT at the time. Also, all of the guys going to UNC/Clemson over us. Also, any in-state kid that chooses to play somewhere like FSU or PSU because of "tradition" gets me pissed each time.

Kinda like 2011.

The rise and fall of HokieCop2B in 2002. I think he was the one that broke the bad news about Justin London the night before London announced he was going to UCLA. So when he said something similar about Marcus Vick choosing UVA the night before MV2's decision he got everyone all riled up, including some coaches apparently.

Landon Turner to UNC. Really thought this kid was all Hokie and we sure as heck could use some big uglies up front protecting LT.
