1973, was 7 years old. My dad, (also a Hokie) took me to see 2 games that year. First was UVA, (Hokies won), then the season finale against VMI. Still remember how much my dad hated losing that game to VMI.
2001 vs. UCF... I think that may actually be the last time we faked a FG??
The first game I saw was against UVA in Roanoke on Oct 4,1952. We lost 42-0. And you think you hate 'em?
Just two seasons later (1954 ) we went undefeated and ended up in the top 20. 8-0-1
It was a diferent world but it was still football.
Indeed I do! Arky State in early '90's. maurice Deshazo was throwing bombs down the field. Think we won like 44-0
October 24, 1964 - Homecoming - I was a sophomore in the Corps of Cadets - VPI (our name at the time) defeats FSU in old Miles Stadium, 20 - 11. Florida State was undefeated and ranked #10. Bill Peterson was their HC. Don James, later HC at WA, and Bobby Bowden were assistants. Bowden coached the TEs and WRs, one of who was Fred Biletnikoff. FSU doubled our yardage, and Biletnikoff put on a show with almost 200 yards receiving. However, he was so frustrated the entire game that when FSU finally scored a late 4th qtr. TD, he turned and threw the football up into the stands...We were their only loss that year....a classic...
