Big difference. UVa really had no idea what Rocco, Metheny or Watford could do in a game situation. Ross and Michael had about 50 more college snaps combined than David did. So the analogy is really apples and oranges.
As far as Sims and McCarron go, trust me. I worked and played in the Alabama athletic department. I know all the politics that go on there. McCarron always had a slight edge going into that "competition." At the end of the day, AJ's experience and ability to manage the game won out. I'll leave it at that.

Alright Hoos, time for serious introspection. Do you honestly think that even if Sims gets a hardship letter and is better than Metheny and gets to start this year that you will beat us? Our defense that shut you out last year is a year older and better, your defense that gave up 38 points to us last year is reminiscent of Afghanistan to quote Dave Chapelle, "Bombed out and depleted." How much better do you really think Sims is going to make you all? He will be gone in two years, and you all will still be terrible. Might as well start your new coaching search now because ML won't win a combined 14 games this year and next year, I have you guys going 7-7 this year and 6-7 next year.

Why are you predicting a 6-7 season in 2013? I don't know about you, but most UVA fans see that year as one for the ages. Rocco will be a senior at that time, his whole wide receiving group will be returning, including Tim Smith and Darius Jennings, and the defense will be stacked with the likes of Nicholson, Eli Harold, Mike Moore, David Dean, Vince Croce, Kwontie Moore, etc. I'm expecting at least an 8 win season in 2013.

This.
Also, just because Hoo homers think that something great will happen in 2013 or 2015 or 2016 (mizzell will be a junior and blandin a soph) doesn't mean anything. Football is just not your sport. Wait for Olympic sport season. Hire Mike London, fire Mike London hire Al Sharpton, fire Al Sharpton , it's doesnt even matter you guys can't take minimal talent we let you guys have out of the 757 and turn it into anything sustainable. Go back to your LSAT prep course and stop coming on our board and talking about Phillip Sims doin anything in C'ville. Not gonna happen.

That's absurd. Just because UVA will probably never be a powerhouse doesn't mean they can't have a respectable football program. You can laugh and joke about it all you want, but I will be happy if UVA won 7-8 games every year, while occasionally cracking the top 25 and a big upset here and there. Does that deem UVA a mediocre program? Of course not. I have no idea whatsoever why you're already predicting London's demise when he's just getting started.
Not even gonna start about this "minimal talent" you talk about when you would sacrifice your left testicle to have Eli Harold, Tre Nicholson, and Kwontie Moore on your side.

The only thing I would sacrifice is the hair on my back for those guys, they're clearing not interested in being Hokies. I would say the same thing about Diggs and Grant, if they don't want to be Hokies, then good luck to them but I could care less. Grant was the #2 player in the country coming out, how is OSU working out for him so far? Diggs was top-10, but now Maryland will spend two years de-recruiting him (except Locksley who will probably feed his ego, getting him nowhere near the 'Desean Jackson hype' that was fed to him throughout his recruitment). In the end the decisions you make, make you, and they may very well be happy playing in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl or the Music City Bowl but they chose UVA, so they will probably play until they earn their degree, which I'll say is definitely a quality one to have, but they still won't do anything great in college aside from perhaps beating FSU in Doak or winning a nice OOC game They will also probably make it to the league, "Tre" at least looks like he is headed there so far, but in college, they will play on a mediocre program for their careers.

I'll agree in that you only want players that want to play for for your program. However, I'm still confused as to why you continue to label UVA a mediocre program. Is winning 7-8 games every season considered mediocre to you? In that case, I guess every FBS team save from about 15 teams in the country are mediocre in your book.

I'm talking about the future of the program. If you consider UVA football's recent history, calling the football program mediocre would be a compliment haha. However, I don't think it's unreasonable to think they can get 7-8 wins from here on out. But your opinion might be a bit jaded, considering the tremendous success and consistency your program has enjoyed the past couple of decades.

London is making people care about it. He's already succeeded in the building of an indoor facility. And also, the new president of the school, is a football fanatic. Since she came from the University of Michigan, she's made it known that she wants to see a competitive football program during her presidency.
