Philip Sims isn't happy...

This why I'm glad the hokies are here.. they know what every commitment we've had over the course of 2.5 years was told and promised Lmao..

Its funny because you act exactly like that on Rivals. You seem to know everything about VT commits, coaches and players. I know its hard but try for once to not be a douche.

I get it-sorta like promising Greg Boone he'd be a QB?

It was Greg Boone's responsibility to not get up to 290 pounds by the time he stepped on campus.

Considering how close some of our insiders are to the staff, etc, it's not out of the realm to believe that they know everything that goes on in the state of VA regarding football recruiting and other matters.

So when they speak we listen.

  • looks like it is official.
    Alabama and Saban made statement.

wonder if this hardship waiver is total BS....no clue how the NCAA looks at these, and what percentage get approved....seems too convenient, but who knows.

while i do think if he lands at UVA, they better, i look forward to the QB controversy/fallout to come in the summer......but like i said, winning cures all...if he uproots Rocco and wins, no one will care about how he got there

  • Sims appeared to have been one injury away from starting, and starting as a senior at worst. Unless of course, Phillip Ely was going to pass him on the depth chart. Ely is a pro style QB, that while only a 3 star, had a lot of impressive offers. Possibly Sims suspected Ely was slipping into the #2 spot.

  • Well there is a family member not exactly teling the truth. Ask Methany's dad how he felt when they brought in Watford instead of Ross during the unc game. I'm telling you London waited until the last day to tell Methany he was the 2nd QB. Think about it, Watford was told he would get playing time if he committed, but, London wanted Methany to stay on board just in case Rocco went down. No way Watford was ready to be 2nd string QB. London got his wish, Methany stayed on board for emergency only and Watford got his playing time. Methany loves uva and wanted to stay but he saw the writing on the early in the season. Not making this stuff up man!

That actually means London is smarter than many of us give him credit for....but in saying so, Watford was no where near ready for college football.

what controversy/fallout will come? he'll go head to head w/ rocco for the starting spot.. he will beat out rocco for the starting spot imo, hes simply a better qb. rocco may transfer and play with his father, but accepting a transfer from sims does not do anything with the qbs who committed last year or this year for that matter..

ugh, this is why i hate hoos coming on VT boards.

you don't think there will be some hurt feelings and some heads turned in the locker room if this all plays out.
Rocco was fine last year, and likely would get better.
I have no doubt Rocco and Simms wouldn't go "head to head" in the summer...but i think we all know the outcome is likely predetermined.

i said over and over, i think the move is worth doing, and Simms makes UVA better......

but there will be some controversy...and there will be some folks changing positions and transferring...it is all part of the game...
but you think this will have no impact on Watford, Lambert, Rocco...teammates that like them, their HS coaches, etc.

like i said...all this stuff means nothing if Simms is a winner, and wins games....people forget these things when the result is winning.

but you can't promise every kid the world, and then hand deliver to the new guy, without some impact.

You think Lambert, Johns, Marshall, Cutler will jump for joy knowing an all 757/VA QB is coming to town...possibly with 3 years to play?

if you can't be rational and are only here to be on the defensive, just head back to your site.

  • The funny thing is uva's offense will be pretty good with or without Sims. It's their defense that won't be able to stop a nose bleed this year. If london does this, it better work out or he's done. This sort of thing can be used as a huge recruiting tool against him. As one of our wise coaches said, london 's own tactics will come back to bite him.

Your misreading the situation. If Rocco had gone down, Ross would have taken over the reigns. Watford was brought in the first 4+ games to give him experience and to see what he could do. But Rocco started every game and it was clear that he had control of the team. Watford was on a very limited play call sheet. You can;t be the #1 guy and be on a limited call sheet. So yes, Watford got more snaps, but it had very little to do with Ross. He was given the opportunity to win the job in the Summer from Rocco. And it didn't happen.

He also had a year more in Alabama's system. But you base this comment on what?

    JoeHoo

  • I said it earlier, this is big risk situation for London. Obviously Sims is going to "win" the job over Rocco...If were Rocco I'd ask for a transfer or RS, why not get that Shirt back that he should have had. If Sims struggles London has a big problem. Lazor's O is predicated on making good decisions, Rocco does that very well....the knock on Sims at Bama was that he couldn't manage the game like AJ...

it will be interesting to watch. I just don't think it is worth the risk and London would get huge props from his locker room and HS coaches if he were to pass on Sims.

  • There is a post on this on the Blue Board, but there is some serious drivel in it too.

    Here we go.
Another thread where the hokies have to explain themselves to the Hoos on our board.

Can you Hoos not get another thread started by hokies for homies shut down by feeling the need to justify everything.

If you have so e real info on the situation. Great. But really could care less on the spin

  • I'll agree with some of you hokies in that London has made quite a few mistakes in his recruiting. I doubt he promised Watford a starting job, but it was obvious he promised him PT, and that proved to be a dumb move by him. Same with Dominique Terrell. Neither of them were ready for ACC football as freshman. But hey, London kept his promise and gave them PT.

I think some of you have to realize that unlike your head coach, London is very new to being a head coach. He's going to make some mistakes on the field and on the recruiting trail, but he's a smart enough guy to learn from his mistakes and improve. I think it's absurd to think he's "burning bridges", especially when that notion is coming from a fanbase whose beloved coach pulled offers left and right when he knew they were hoos.

JHoo i have always enjoyed what info you have brought here but, with this i respectfully disagree. Let's put the shoe on the other foot. What would you say if next year our QB depth chart was Thomas, Leal and Hodges in that order and we started replacing Thomas midway thru this first qtr in the 1st 4 games.by pulling the red shirt off of Hodges to see what he could do and get him experience. Meanwhile, Leal is not getting any snaps. You guys would think our coaches are hanging out with Hosley, and VT fans would go nuts. I just don't think london told Ross " Hey you are our 2nd qb and we are not playing you unless Rocco goes down". But, Watford will be playing to get him experience when he was nowhere near ready to play? I don't buy it. Plus, i would think you would want your 2nd qb. to get snaps just in case your starter does go down. Again, when you tell a recruit and his coach that he will get playing time you have to live up to it. Right?
As far as the McCarron > Sims comment, you don't have go any furtther than the Alabama board. The kid just couldn't manage or grasp the game.

Agree with 1st paragraph but the 2nd not so much. At some of these schools the head coaches take care of their players as though they were their own kids. You hurt them or backstab them in any way you will burn bridges fast. Plus prove to us where Beamer has pulled offers.
