****Official Hokies vs Hoos golf tournament *** UPDATED 5/4

  • Ok gentleman, I've finalized everything with GTM and we've set the date for Saturday August 11th. There will be a Shotgun start at 1pm at Birkdale Country club here in Richmond. They just did $300,000 in renovations to the course so it's a good little track, plus we can make a good amount to donate.

    The cost is $400 per foursome which will include meals, prizes, drink tickets, cigar cart and contests.

    There are plenty of available sponsorships, and we'd love if you could contribute.

    Corporate sponsor-$500, includes a 4some entry in the tournament, hole sponsorship with signage and products on display, name recognition in the program.

    Sponsor the Lunch,Beverage Cart, Cigar Cart for $500. Your company name will be on the cart, and you will be recognized at dinner, as well as having your company sign there

    Longest drive, closest to pin, driving range, raffle prizes sponsor. $250- your company name will be on the hole that's sponsoring that event, and you will also present the prize. For driving range, and raffle sponsor your company sign will be on the practice range and at dinner where you'll be recognized.

    We're looking for 25-36 foursomes. Itll be a lot of fun, so please come play, meet others, and contribute to a good cause.

  • Each school will vote on which charity they'd like to donate to if they win.
    VT will be voting between the VT memorial fund, and Chase after a cure, which is a 9 year old kid of 2 Hokies who has nueroblastoma.
    Once UVA has their teams in, an email will go out to get yalls charity suggestions, and then a vote. The winner of the tourney will be presented a check to donate to that charity.
    If we have an even number of 4somes per school it'll be total score, if not we will do average score per foursome.
    Sorry for leaving that out.
    If you have any good charity suggestions please leave them here as well.

  • Last post on this, but depending on the amount of sponsors and teams, we've made of goal of $5,000 plus for the first year, and that's very attainable, if we come close to filling 36 slots and most sponsors we will be looking at closer to a 10k donation.

    Please step up guys this is a great way for the schools and sites to come together or a good cause

  • I would strongly recommend putting together something a little more formal that contains all the information a potential sponsor would want to know. I'd like to forward that on to a few big Hokie Club folks.

  • Hey guys, I'm also working on getting some players out there that don't golf, to have a long drive competition like Graves, Macho, Davon so that will be funny to see. If any of you have ideas to make this more fun please suggest them.

    Ive also linked Chaseafteracure which is my choice for the VT charity. What are yalls thoughts?

    Commonwealth Charity Cup?

    Also, Ill be donating a Michael Vick autograph (The hoos will be fighting over this one) for a giveaway raffle or whatever it is. Ill also be attending, but not playing. To say I suck at golf would be generous.

I have spread this through friends, both VT and UVa that are not that into the message board scene and I have had a tremendous response. I think you will see this become a huge success.
