I have a hound named Jasper as well. You can see him in my profile picture, adorable beagle Smitty! How old is he...my beagle (not the basset in the pic) just turned 1 and her had shown 0 signs of ever calming down lol. + 1

Man I can't wait.. When Im done building my house my first purchase will be a basset!!!

Great picture. Our Jasper is almost 9. Jasper is still completely nuts and hyper. Beagles are also incredibly stubborn dogs. And hounds, as you know are some barkers. My wife worked a lot with Jasper to train him, and she really learned a lot from watching Cesar, the dog whisperer. Takes a lot work with beagles. They are smart, love to act stupid. My wife can get jasper to stop barking, now, at least when we are out there. We have a little water gun that looks like a whale. We would squirt him when he was being obnoxious, and he hated that water gun. After a while we could just hold it up and show it to him and he would stop. Now we can just tell him we're going to get Mr Whale, and he shuts up.
A little bit of vinegar in the water gun is supposed to really help, though we never did that. And positive reinforcement with little snacks helps in training, since a hound dog will do anything for food.

I wouldn't trade my Jasper for any dog in the world. He's lazy when all you want to do is watch football and he's hyper when you want to play outside. They are both awesome dogs, if take a hound over a smart breed anyday.
One thing I have noticed is here in Franklin County there is a major tick problem haha. They are good fire me getting 2-3 off a day, and Zeus (beagle) hates it!

That is awesome!. Yes, must have a hound dog upon completion. Awhile back Jasper was barking at some people walking by the house. A little girl about 3 yells at him, "Hello hound dog". Me an the wife busted up.

I have a hound dog as well. Beagle / Fox hound mix. Stubborn is an understatement.

You got me.....hopefully you'll get down here for a couple FC games this year. The website should be back and we will have a lot more scoop and details with summer practices as well. Glad you finally made it rio 247 even if you are a Hokie
