Never thought the ACC would be the conference that collapsed

Hope you guys find your way to the SEC along with NC State. those of us in KY, TN, and SC would love to round out the geography and create some new rivals. Ask Texas A&M how good it feels to be out of brother's shadow.

Yes and I am sure that your graduation rates in football would be an enhancement to any program. Does the SEC even graduate players at all.

I don't think you really want to bring up Academic Progress Report.

Absolutely, words of wisdom. Maryland is crap and can be easily replaced.

It's not Maryland leaving. It's whatever it takes to make FSU leave.

It's frekkin Maryland. The ACC might survive.

Yes really. Smitty is right, this is Maryland. Not a great loss. This may push Notre Dame into full membership. Who's to say that Stafford didn't see this coming and hence the move with the Irish. If true it would be a stroke of genius. Before we all get wedgies we should wait and see how this plays out.

"Meanwhile, the Southeastern Conference's football dominance might extend to the classroom, too, at least as measured by the GSR. Of teams currently in the coaches poll, the SEC had five of the top 13 when ordered by GSR. Football heavyweights LSU (No 6, 77% GSR), Alabama (No. 7, 75%) and Florida (No. 8, 75%) led the way for the SEC. Those teams are all in the top six of the coaches poll.

"It sends exactly the right message," NCAA President Mark Emmert said. "There's some illusion out there that being a great athlete and being a great student are incompatible.

"Those institutions prove exactly the opposite. … When you've got whole teams performing at that level, it sends exactly the right message to the whole world."

Notre Dame, SEC also win in classroom

The SEC's football dominance might extend to the classroom, too, at least as measured by the latest Graduation Success Rate figures released today by the NCAA. Of teams currently ranked in the USA TODAY

I agree with this, but ND made the move the the ACC for a reason. They feel like they are a better cultural fit with the ACC, and they see the demographics moving away from the B1G region. They want to align themselves with schools like Syracuse (NY area), UNC, and Duke.

Yeah, if the ACC falls apart they will find a landing place. But they would be forced to join for all sports in that landing place. The endgame has them losing their independence either way. So the question for them is this....should they join the ACC in football to potentially save it, or are they willing to gamble and be forced to move again, losing the things they value with ACC affiliation.

    Great post.....

Maybe so Smitty but I think it plays bad in Hoboken.
