One thing that stood out to me in the article was that Saban offered him the OC position at Bama. I know that doesn't just magically make him a good OC. But, IMO, Saban is the best HC in CFB right now. And one thing that makes him the best is that he is continually replacing coaches with more good hires. He just has that knack. If thats the extent of it, then I'd be more than happy with Trooper. Hes one of the best recruiters in the business...and if he needed to "clean up his act" i think this is the program where he'd have the proper structure to do so.

If he were to end up at VT with Loeffler then I would be convinced that Beams is hiring for one last run. Trooper can sell ice to an Eskimo. Imagine him, Shane, Stiney, Cornell (seems to be making a splash in the 757), and then bring in a good OL coach who can solidify that position, out on the trail.
