Mostly good news except with the Acree news hope he's not discouraged and is ready for next spring.

I wonder if Acree tore more than the ACL. Isnt a normal ACL a six month rexovery. I'd hope he can participate in spring ball otherwise it is going to be difficult for him to ever contribute with so much missed time.

I hadn't ever heard of a 6 month recovery so I looked it up, 8 months is actually on the early end.

rest, ice, elevation, compression—2-4 weeks (occurs during the 2 weeks after surgery)
walking and biking—12 weeks
running—6 months
competitive sports—no earlier than 8 months (9-12 months typical)

He can apply for a 6th year eventually, correct? Tough injury, but even more time for him to learn the game from a classroom standpoint.

Actually just read he also had an mcl sprain and a miniscus tear, not sure if that extended the recovery estimate though.

Won't hurt him. The ACL only comes into play when you're trying to change direction quickly. He'll be able to walk straight ahead just fine, although I'm sure he'll be on crutches for a while after the surgery.

But remember that Lee Suggs was able to come back from a complete ACL tear in the first game of the 2001 season and could have played in our bowl game that year if we'd allowed him to. That's only 4 months. So 6 months certainly isn't out of the question.

Man, i really hate to hear this about Acree. He has had some tough luck going back to HS. Maybe this is it and from here on out it's going to be ok for him. He has the size to play at a higher level and i'm hoping he comes back strong and gets the chance to prove himself.
