Gamecocks LB recruiting makes no sense

USC-E has commitments from 8 guys that project at LB, but 4 are unrated, and 2 are listed as DE, but are clearly too small for SEC DE and in all likelyhood LBs. Also strange is they have 15 commitments, with 5 unrated guys, a 2* guy, and only 3 4* guys, hardly an SEC quality class it seems.

It's so early, lots of guys will get their rating. Plus, the idea that all SEC DE's are huge is slightly skewed by the fact that Bama runs a 3-4 and their DEs are huge. LSUs DEs are smallish and they are doing ok. Your probably talking about the two kids that are 220 and 225. Last year they had kids in the 250's in their 2 deep. Those kids will definitely get to that.
Just some examples of size of some starting SEC DE's that play in a 4-3...Ark: 251, 243; Aub: 229, 258; UF: 250; LSU: 240, 245; Ole Miss: 255, 260.

Two of the unrated ones are JUCO that originally committed to BAMA and USC-E. Alfy Hill and Brandon Golson are very good. fwiw

VT took shot at Hill. He had family in Newport News, and said he grew up a VT fan and loved the colors. He was the 70th ranked player by rivals in the 2010 class.

Yeah, read it in one of his interviews. I like their colors, didn't sound overly convincing.
