More I think about it, more I like Elliott.
Goes against the best defenses in the country while pep not so much. And I still feel David Shaw is huge part of play calling.
I'll take either, just liking Elliott more and more.
I've read some good arguments both ways. If we stick with a dual threat QB model, and it seems that way with Parker and and Hodges, Elliot may be a better fit.
When it comes to play-calling, doesn't spurrier call them at USCe?
Pep with a good OL coach by far. I don't want an Oline coach calling plays. Not to mention you talk about Shaw and play calling, but don't mention Spurrier and play calling?
Yeah d block, I agree. I'm not really clear on both coaches as far as play calling. The next 2 days should be interesting for just watching both teams and oc's.
I think we'll do well either way, I'm very excited
With the talent we get, I think adequate o line coaching can pay huge dividends so that is equally as key as oc IMO.
Please explain what about SC's offense has you at all excited. I'd love to hear it. Just because SC plays a tougher schedule doesn't mean anything, SC's offense has never been anything at all to write home about, the only time they have been anything is with freak athletes like Alshon Jeffrey and Lattimore and even then they haven't been much. You say that you think that Shaw still plays a large role in playcalling, what about Spurrier? And Stanford doesn't exactly play cupcakes either. Pep has a true offensive identity, and thats ground and pound. Thats exactly what we need. He has experience developing QBs as well, who has Shawn helped develop? Garcia? Shaw? Those guys are/were average college QBs at best. The answer to our problem is Pep, and its an easy answer.
"I don't care what nobody say I'm a be me, stay hood stay real, cause I'm out here grindin'" -Frank Beamer
Pep hands down if Jim harbaugh talks him up then he must be legit. And he can recruit very well.
I'm not sure Shawn Elliott is even in VT's price range. Last year he turned down $350-400K to coach OL at UF, and then it seems got the title of co OC to coordinate USCE's running game.
Both would be good....I get the feeling Elliott would be a Bud Foster type of guy just based on his interviews.
Do you watch USC games?
They talk about him every game how he's running the show on offense now. Do you see them slinging it all over the place?nope, u don't.
I asked a question and gave my opinion. Since you are so smart, name the kick ass defenses they play at Stanford? You are now saying Pac 10 and sec defenses are the same?
Actually shaws a damn good qb, just got jacked up. And Garcia was unfortunately an alcoholic. What the hell do you want him to do about that.
Next time give your opinion and don't attack others big boy.
Attack? LOL, keep fabricating stuff bro. No, I didn't say that Pac12 defenses are the same as SEC...but they don't play slouches (played Notre Dame) and the conference isn't bad. That same power offense destroyed us in the Orange Bowl. You still didn't justify why you wanted Elliott, I asked a question as to why you would prefer Elliott. Can you explain instead of just getting angry? Sorry I'm not in love with a coordinator just because he is from the SEC and honestly I think the fact that he is in the SEC is the biggest selling point to his supporters on this board and I just don't get it. I want a coordinator that values a dominating power rushing attack, and a coordinator that has developed QBs and has more experience. One who has a clear idea of what he wants on offense and thats to grind the defense into submission.
Man, let's not argue about offensive coaches we don't even have yet. How bout this. Let's just talk about our current offensive coaches and how much we like them. That should get everybody on the same page.
Welcome to the Terror Dome, baby! Welcome to the Terror Dome!
better get on board with pep if you ask me. I bet its already done. no other reason for sherman to be looking.
Yes. He gets input from Elliott, Jr., and GA Mangus but he basically calls all the shots.
What are you guys hearing over here.
its been hot on pep from stanford until today when elliotts name came up. we are just guessing at this point,
you hearing anything on your side?
Supposedly Eliott hasn't been targeted.
