Yea I saw that, don't know if I can cross reference it but.....
Covering Virginia Tech Hokies football, basketball, and recruiting since 1996.
Oh baby! Wow! I could say a lot about MOC and Frank even hiring him in the first place, but we won't go there. I'll just say, "Thank you sweet baby Jesus!!"
Grace: It means we shouldn't kick somebody when they're down.
Except it feels like Ocain has been kicking us when we're down for years
Everyone should remember that O'Cain was a Hokie for a number of years. Regardless of his effort on the trail, and his effectiveness as a QB coach, he was in the booth for some great Hokie wins and we should bid him farewell with class. Some should remember that TT certainly got better under MOC and although LT had a bad year, he went from being a TE to an All-ACC QB under MOC. It has been widely reported that Logan had a great relationship with O'Cain and that should be enough for us to realize that MOC was a good coach. I am glad we made a change, it was certainly needed, but it's lame to kick the dude while he is down. Real lame. I think O'Cain was much less of a problem in terms of player development as Newsome, and our terribly coached, insanely fundamentally unsound OL, which seriously undermined everything O'Cain was trying to do. O'Cain's lack of recruiting was a major problem, but he was a good coach IMO. The future looks bright and lets be happy that Frank finally did what he needed to do. It's pointless and unneeded to bash coaches on the way out. Let's appreciate all MOC did and move on. Period.

There is a god after all.
THE ONLY THING I'M ADDICTED TO IS WINNING--CHARLIE SHEEN
Mike o'cain was a terriblw coach and recruiter. What are your sources that tell you he made tyrod better and that he had a good relationship with LT? Look, another bubble screen for a loss of 3.
Not even worth arguing about. Some people just don't get it. It's called grace like someone said previously.
chill man, I'm not standing outside his house saying get the eff out of here , like O & M.
I mean, I can't express joy for a day that MOST of us have been waiting so patiently for? You think O'Cain reads this board?
p.s. I don't care about the down votes, but I do find it hilarious that I get down voted for saying "yeah buddy" and then O & M follows up with his usual and gets up voted lol
Um...Logan wasn't a tight end.
Hubcap is dead on. I don't care if you are the best offensive play caller in the world. If you don't have an offensive line that blocks worth a darn and then your qb loses all confidence and can't throw simple passes, you can't play calls that are going to work. MOC made Logan into the First round grade 12 months ago when we were all bragging on how Logan was going to get paid right about now, but no one knew the offensive line would be the worst offensive line ever put together in blacksburg.
I blame frank for all of this bc the offensive line has been an issue for years and could have been corrected with a single coaching change, but since he recruited well and we were good enough everywhere else on the field, he was ok with it. It has now cost 2 additional guys their jobs. I'm pretty sure mike o'cain didn't call fake punt last year in the sugar bowl. I'm pretty sure he was not even the offensive coordinator, so he played the calls designed by Stiney.
While i hated the pitch to the rb for 2 yard loss, if you can't throw the ball, the defense loads the box, if you can't block the defense that has loaded the box and your OL gets blown backwards along with the TE, you have to try to run outside. dudes hands were tied bc of such horrendous ol play and its cost others their jobs. And hell, stiney couldn't handle the play calling spot and Ocain was willing to step up to the plate and he never blamed any other coaches.
The man was not going to make miracles happen, bc you can't do anything with an offensive line that can't block a pee wee league defense.
I think we thank the man for his efforts and wish him luck. He's not coaching anymore at VT, what else do you want?
Hopefully he can get on at UVgAy or UNCheat. If not there Clem$on would be nice. Wherever he can do the most damage so long as its not Blacksburg!!!
