Well at least we can spend our time elsewhere with recruits that want to come. Best of luck to the kid though! Tennessee is a nice place
Kind of odd. Thought he was a WVU lean?
Everyone thought it was between the Eers and Hokies, guess they were wrong.
He had been favoring Tenn since his visit there.
Yeah he definitely was. His family seemed sold after his official visit there.
Hokie, Hokie, Hokie, Hy!
Tech, Tech, VPI
Now I can stop getting the Coleman Thomas and Thomas Colemans confused.
They picked up Todd Kelly today as well. He had a VT offer and I think visited but we weren't really in it for him.
Well.. I'll say this and don't bash me for being honest.. I've watched him play basketball and thought he had great size and was athletic.. but at no point watching football (against weak competition mind you) did he ever really stand out. I've had other people mention that to me as well. To add to this, of course I wasn't going to say this while we were recruiting him, that would be bad mojo.. I can't help but think the 7 coaches of BCS teams who offered him know more than I do, but I just never could see him being anything more than a big athletic guy, but I guess good coaches can mold that.

And of course, VT doesn't need a Junior Day until April according to our old timers on staff. No hurry to get kids to campus and recruit them before the Spring game. Our layed back approach pays dividends again. Oh yes, I remember now, we could have a junior day because we had to hire some new staff and they had to have time to adjust, learn about VT, etc. NONE of the old retained staff could have done an earlier Jr Day...too much to ask. Maybe adding one late in March when the focus is on the NCAA BB tournament will help stop the bleeding. But then, who needs an Offensive Line?
CZY said the other day that future Jr days will be earlier. They are later this year due to the staff changes. IMO, Stiney's doing well to quickly organize a second Junior Day at all.
I don't completely buy that though. I can understand giving the coaches some time to settle in, but we still should of had a junior day at the beginning of this month. The amount of catching up that we're going to have to do with our prospects is going be enormous. If we're in a quiet or dead period, thats why you strategically put an event during that time to make up for the lack of contacting that goes on.
Thank you....the idea we can't pull together a basketball season jr day because we Had some staff turnover is lunacy. Teams bring in completely new staffs and manage it.
