If anyone can take some time to post on rain / wind / power - I'd appreciate it.
Looks like it is starting to get nasty up there.
two small leaks in my house that was built in 2009 in Ashburn, yaaaay!

i recently moved from Ashburn down to Charlotte - we lived over behind the Ice House. Every time a bad storm came in we'd get a leak in the front window bay. No matter how I tried to fix it - the water kept finding a way in. I think that the wind would loosen the siding and the water would blow up underneath and then run down the wall... I hate siding...
Thanks for the update - how's the wind so far?
A couple taken in the last few hours at my house. Seems to be topping off now.
Oh, water higher here than for Irene.
Sandy has pretty much been a non-event here in Newport News. Steady rain since Sat PM (but most of the time not super heavy; I'd guess 3-4 inches), and very little wind at all.
thats exactly it, the water is coming thru from the siding. Wind is picking up big time. Gusts got to be over 30 mpph at this point.
HNB: Where are you located?
Lots of rain, small gusts in Arlington. Not much happening yet.
Yep some strong gusts in the Denbigh area but nothing consistant. Where in NN are you?
Friend in Boston just texted they lost power already. Going to be a long few days!
Sandy is getting close to the jersey shore now....the bay should be able to start dumping on next ebb tide...problem now will be saturated ground and we will see sandy going extra-tropical once it makes landfall and will get influence from front...will begin to unwind and the wind field will expand...that's where the problem will begin for trees to uproot....probably will see snow above 3000-3500ft......long wind fetch will be a problem for alot of us.....lots of people with a lot of different problems.....stay safe everyone.....
Between Chix and 1fish 2 fish in VB
Not far from you, actually. Down Jefferson off Turnberry.
Snow just starting here in bluefield. Supposed to be blizzard like from late this afternoon through tomorrow night. Winter was horrible 2 years ago, and made me mad enough to buy 3 things I am tickled to have.
Snowboots good to 30 below - $125
Artic gloves good to about the same $100
Fenix LED flashlight $75
I have never spent that much money on those kind of items before, and OMG, am I ever glad that I did. They are unreal.
Wind and rain are picking up in Manassas. I hope I lose a few shingles so I can get a new roof from the Insurance company.
Definitely picking up here in Gaithersburg. Last 30 minutes or so have been much worse.
Smitty...what is your elevation? Heard that a heavy band will set up somewhere around Beckley.....
Right at 2,398 feet. Beckley is at 2,421
My cousin from Jersey took the below picture a little while ago. I think it's real
He loves to play in the surf......silly guy......
Oh hell, I thought that was Snooki at first.
Spoke to my brother in northern Va, Delaplane Va. Eating some stew, drinking a beer, and him and his wife are watching 100 year old oaks snap like twigs. He says gust have to be hitting 80 mph, and they are watching trees bigger than two people could lock hands around, bend to 45 degrees. Some snap back, and some are snapping in half. He has lost count of how many are down, and is convinced there is no way his house will be spared come morning.
Here in NYC - 35th floor, building is swaying! Winds are definitely in place, and a good chunk of the city is now dark with the power outages (planned to save the subways). Could be worse though, that's for sure. Gonna be some bad flooding all over the east coast by the time it's done.
