Boy I wanna go back there. 99' was great but something special about the newness of 95', Of course 95 and 96 were my two fave VT teams. Performed like there was no tomorrow. Coached with a incredible passion. Oh and the fans cheered and come out like the sleeping giant they are.
Let's don't go to sleep. For some reason have some kind of feeling something will be done. But no matter let's not run. Let's not quit. I am bad for being emotional but after watching that video I know why ......... I just wanna go back there!
me too, those teams gave their all on every play, coached and played like we had something to prove. I personally havent felt that in a very long time from this program. Someone on that team needs to find that hunger again for something better than what we currently are, coaches, players, and fans need to find it. It is not exceptable to be satisfied with acc championships and wins of mediocre teams and opposing coaches, because of what guys in the past have done to get this program to where it is today.
You probably didn't feel that way when we started out with two stinkers against BC and Cinci!
didnt we start out 0-2 that year ... its a long season.
You obviously weren't there that day in the rain. The day Cincinnati came to town and beat us like a rented mule. Shut us out! Our offense was worse than this Pitt game. Defense, not much better. Very, very similar to what we just saw Saturday. All teams have good days and bad days.
LOL in the rain the game stunk in more ways then one. Get your point but the expectations back then were nothing like now. I forget that sometimes. No matter what you times back then was simpler and fun. Now they are more win win win. It burns me up to see the way we play on offense. I do not see this team turning it around like 95 or like the year we loss to JMU. Still in back of our minds we have seen Beamer and staff do things like getting better as season goes along. The thing with 95' is they learned how to play the whole game. Back then there was one uni. No tweeter, Also a fanbase that was so much wanting something. Now our fanbase seems ready to leave. While I am as emotional as the next I realize I just will not quit on any VT team. Whether I despise the offense or not. Matter of fact our defense needs toughened up . I will watch this Saturday and hope. LOL. Yea in 95 I was probably a lil down at first. But NO big expectations then. Boy times have changed.
BTW. Not saying expectations are not good nor needed. Just what our true expectations should be. That is why I use 95. They played with no fear of losing. Frank IMO is better hunter then getting hunted. If that makes sense.
Makes perfect sense imo. Beamer is a victim of his own success. With success everything gets amped up such as expectations and pay. It's a necessary evil to continue forward. No success=No job, Success=The want for more. Beamer imo is actually a brilliant coach that is held back by his niceness. Just imagine if his philosophy was paired with a get it done or find a new job attitude. Are Saban's teams flashy? No. The biggest difference in Beamer and Saban I honestly feel is Beamer is nice and patient and Saban is not. Of course I'm basing this purely off of what I see on the exterior. JMO.
