Inconsistency is the problem with the O. And that relates to the coaches. Just a mess of formations with simplistic plays. The players are fine, we need new leadership. From what I am hearing in blacksburg, change is coming.
THE ONLY THING I'M ADDICTED TO IS WINNING--CHARLIE SHEEN
Well said. I don't even think you'd see any drop in attendance at all if we were say, 8-4 in the SEC with losses to Bama, Florida, etc. The cosmetics if the winning/losing are pretty important IMO. Having a down year against good teams but feeling like you're headed in the right direction is one thing. Going 6-6 with some double digit losses to bad teams is quite another. You can't expect fans to turn out in droves when they have no confidence in the team winning.
Especially given that a lot of our fans are travelling to games; people are hesitant to invest in a weekend when they feel there's a good chance it will be spoiled by us losing the game. More power to you if you can repeatedly go to bowl games or neutral site games and not really let the losses dampen your spirits, but a lot of fans can't do that. It doesn't make them a fairweather fan, it just means they'd rather not invest the money if the risk of losing is high.
I hate losing. It takes me most of a week to get over a loss. But I hate not going more than losing. The experience itself is too much fun to pass up. The prospect of winning -- even an unlikely win -- is almost addicting. Maybe I just like to torment myself. It is part of the lifelong Hokie experience almost. I love it when lots of people show up -- fair-weather or not fairweather. I don't really know what it matters. But, all that said, what you have described would pretty much be the definition of fair-weather the way I have always understood it.
For those that made the Game, great support, for those that didn't , You missed another display of No Offense . If all VT has to muster up on offense, is to use a QB as a Ram, then VT has serious problems at the Head of the table ! If your play calling is limited to your QB's ability to pass, which he doesn't have, then you need some changes in that position and on the Staff. If you Have a RB that you don't use, Scales, that runs with power and gets you yardage, to put three different RBs in, that's plain crazy. Shane Beamer, if that's your calls, then son you need to take that job in Georgia. By the Way, I was there and sit in the SEZ with folks that couldn't believe all that was put on the field yesterday, I thank the Lawyer that got Cody out of his troubles and Frank Beamer for getting him back on the team. He's been a Hero all season. Been a Hokie Fan for over 55 years , Never seen such so many Sorry Offensive Coaches gathered together at one school in my life, Sorry O Coaches , That's the person at the Head of the Tables Fault...rant over.
