Hits game winner to beat Ole Miss, and totals 17. Oh what might have been if not for attrition and the Harrell decommit.
Looking back, it was really in each others best interest if VT and Seth separated after the Hokies went to the NCAA tournament in 2006. Seth could have probably found a pretty good job after his coaching performance that season and Tech would have been a hot commodity in the coaching world as an up-and-comer in the ACC. Ohh well. What could have been.
It was easy to tell that Ty was a good player or had the potential to be.
I never thought he was even a D-1 player. Whether that was Seth, Ty's confidence level, or our offense in general, I just didn't see it. I don't recall many seeing it, and I don't recall any upset when he transferred.
Good for Garland. IMO, sometimes the fit just isn't right. Being from Philly, maybe he was simply more comfortable playing close to home. Glad to see him having success.
It's a painful learning curve for me, but our offense then (and now) makes our players look worse than they are. We have some offensive talent on this team is not being showcased, and more importantly, not further developed.
people forget, players improve. look no further than erick green. many doubted his ability to be a d-1 player after his freshman year too.
Sadly I have to agree.....we don't seem to have the ability to get the most out the players...they either get it themselves or they go somewhere else and have their talents showcased......
I think he was just as promising as Boggs, Atkins, Green, and Rankin all were as freshmen.
I seek out every chance I can to say how much I liked Atkins. Every team can use a scrappy player like him.
i agree. he was somewhat limited athletically, but he really could shoot the ball and played his butt off.

Amen, every good team has a couple players like Atkins that do the dirty work. I really feel that's what the team this year lacked.

a team with Harrel, Garland, Atkins, and DFS would have certainly won more games. And BTW, do you know that Hank Thorns was Mountain West Conference First Team his senior year and got a shot in the D League?
I do think Coach JJ brought in a pretty good class for as little time as he had to work with. Will be interesting to see what kind of class he follows up with.
Yep, rooting for him. On the surface, I was surprised by our disappointing performance on defense, when everything I read was that JJ was a defensive minded coach. But then I was thinking it could have to do with lack of depth and the guys just got gassed toward the end of games and down the stretch of the season. I grew up a Knicks fan in the early to mid-90s, and I actually loved the low scoring snobber-knocker type defensive struggles in hoops.
