Lovely. Hopefully this was a case of a couple of guys being idiots and messing around with improvised fireworks or something and not something more sinister.
This isn't what I had in mind for VT finishing with a bang...
Felony charges with mandated suspensions if true.
Norm Wood @normwood
Rody was released on recognizance, while Trimble was held in custody. Both #Hokies arraigned today in Mont. Co. GD court in Christiansburg.
Trimble is a gunner that will have to be replaced.
Second to Tweedy in tackles on special teams.
Hopefully it was the offense's playbook.
Big gulps huh? Welp, see ya later...
Ok, sounds like a practical joke gone bad. No intent to hurt anyone. Will most likely be reduced. Without knowing exactly what type of device it was I am not going to say anything.
I've done worse pranks than this....
Jimmy Turk, the attorney for Rody and Trimble, said Monday afternoon that this incident was a prank gone bad. Rody and Trimble put aluminum foil and toilet bowl cleaner into a soda bottle and left it outside someone else’s apartment.
“It goes ‘Boom,’ blows up and made a loud noise,” Turk said. “They went back to their apartmnent and were laughing about it. They certainly did not have any idea that it would be anything at all that would constitute a felony charge being brought.”
Both of these guys are from my hometown in Ashburn. Rody went to Stone Bridge and Trimble went to O'Connell. I worked with Rody for a couple of months at the Buffalo Wing Factory and Trimble's family still lives on my block. They are both good kids probably just being mischievous. I am a fireman in Florida now so explosives aren't very funny to me anymore, but back in high-school and college....
