That team didn't have half the talent the present team does but they had guts. I remember watching that game that was played on a cold, rainy night. That game was the reason that the Hokies became a national brand as the country began to like this tough, scrappy bunch of overachievers.
Exactly! In the 1990's we played with heart and we were not allowed to switch our uniforms and make proclamations about who we were going to shut down through various media outlets! I played with several guys that went to the NFL but they were not concerned about it until the season ended. I LOVE this program and many former players feel this way! But I was at the game and I see no leadership!! None!! I told Kyle Bailey on his radio show and CZY Hokie that I was shocked that there were so many people that thought they were players on this team that could leave early for the NFL. Making it to the league is about having talent but also about pride as well as leadership. Look at the talent we beat on those Miami teams. Look at it! They were loaded and we smacked them in the face! That includes Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Dan Morgan, and Reggie Wayne and a bunch of ballers! If we we played on Thursday night, we had to win in order to have Friday off or else we had to practice the next day. Again this team is talented but where is the leadership on the field?!

That Alabama team also had Chris Sameuls who got drafted by the Skins in the 1st round and Bryant an All American CB.
