In your opinion the best player not to live up to their hype. Could be they left the team, didn't even make it to VT, injury plagued etc.
A couple come to mind:
But who stands out the most?

Did you hear Hoo got arrested? Thomas Jefferson would be proud!
"Don't f*** with the truth. Be the truth. Always." - Patrice O'Neal -
Another one for the list: Fred Lee (WR). I was hyped about the kid because he came from very close to where I grew up in central PA. Kid was special but never really took hold at VT.
Has to be Elan Lewis. That kid was a Beast comming out of High School.
Its hard to include guys that never got here. Simmons, Nolan are those cases.
In my mind it has to be Richard Johnson or Ike Whitaker.
I was a freshman in high school when Simmons was being recruited..what was the reason he never made it to tech?
He stopped going to class around January, for one thing. He spent his nights getting wasted, looking for a reason to knock somebody out or throw through a window. The guy went on a path of destruction for himself and anyone around him. He could have been a great football player, but probably knew deep down that he was no student. I'm not Sigmund Freud, but my guess is that he may have sabotaged his future at VT intentionally. College isn't for everyone.
No contest, it was Ike Whitaker.

Terell Parham...seems like he was embedded in the doghouse
This is easy!
Marcus Vick... If he had his head screwed on straight we would have coasted to the National Championship game in 2006-07. We lost to GT and BC that year, those losses never would have happened with MV2.

Good points. Man thats depressing.
I think you take away Mike, all the free things he got, the sense of entitlement would not have been there. He MIGHT have been a different person.
Robert Adams or Maurice Reevey. A buddy on the staff at FUMA at the time said that Reevey was the most complete defensive player they had ever seen.

Zack Luckett was a guy I wanted to see more of, playing the wing on punt coverage.
Aaron Brown - a OL guy that I thought we had stolen out of Ohio.
and just about anyone else from our 2006 class...Mike Gee, Nolen.
You might as well put the entire 06 class on that list. What a horrible class.
I am gonna say Bell, I remember that year well, was very sad for that kid. He had a bright football career ahead of him, I hope he is doing well.
The guys life growing was rough to say the least. He was a very angry kid and unfortunately football wasn't enough of a release for him. Vince Hall, Tony Morrison and Deveon Simmons were the most athletic linebackers I've seen in the 757. It was a different sound when they hit somebody.
Evans, Williams, and Wilson.
Got one season from each as primary RB.
Ryan Williams could have put up numbers like no other IMO...mishandled from day 1........we just got a glimpse of what could have been.....
This season would have been a very different one with David Wilson. Honestly if you go back and review our games, I think we finish around 7-5 or 6-6 last season without Wilson.
