Looks like he's deamning a trade. Still can't understand why Jacksonville didn't try to get him the last time around. Sure they have Gabbert, but they can't sell out their stadium to save their lives. Tebow on the team would put butts in the seats.
I'd demand a trade too.
The guy is an ugly QB, but he wins. Heisman, National Championship, took the Broncos to the playoffs and even won a game against the Steelers.
Kid really took UF to the next level and is a Jacksonville native. Agreed that if he was going to go anywhere, Jacksonville would have been the fit.
Everyone in the NFL says that he's not a good QB - but here are his college numbers... You don't get a 66 to 70% completion percentage if you can't throw for a damn. Yes, his motion sucks, but work with him a little and I bet that he'd pay dividends.
BTW - I couldn't care less about Tebow the human, I'm just saying that he's a winning QB -if- he's in the right system. Talk about a QB that would be perfect for the Pistol O. Further to the point, you put Tebow in SF right now, and I bet he'd be doing the same thing that Kaepernick is doing.

Whoa, whoa, whoa big guy - Kaepernick has an absolute cannon for an arm, has atleast an inch or two on Tebow and is a much better athlete outside the pocket. Tebow has a Graham Harrell arm and can't play in a real NFL system. If you can't throw an 8 yard out, you're not going to make it in the NFL. Kaepernick has NFL arm strength which is what allows him to be a QB on Sundays.
Tebow is garbage in the NFL, no two ways around it.
Agreed Tebow is total crap in the NFL, there is a very good reason no one really wants him! He had the chance to go Jville last year but chose to go to the Jets for non football reasons/income. Denver had trades on the table from NYJ and Jville that were pretty much equal and gave Tebow his choice. Dont feel sorry for him he made his choice now he should shut up and deal with it.
Not saying Tebow is going to be anyone's savior (he's here all week, folks...) but to suggest he can't complete a pass is to be yet another mindless sheep who regurgitates whatever talk radio show they listened to that day.
The guy was a US Army All American QB, a Heisman-winning QB and he "was the SEC's all-time leader in career passing efficiency (170.8), completion percentage (67.1%), passing touchdown to interception ratio (5.5 to 1), rushing yards by a quarterback (2947), rushing touchdowns (any position) (57), and total touchdowns responsible for (145)".
It's cause-celeb to jump on the Tebow-sucks bandwagon, but the facts over the course of many years back up the fact that, while he may have an ugly throwing motion, he can still play the position.
Again, you put him with the 49ers or Redskins this year and there's no doubt that he'd have much better success. Pocket passer like Manning or Brady? Never, but a Fran Tarkenton-type-guy is what you could get in Tebow. He just needs the right coach and the right system...
Graham Harrell is currently the NCAA record holder for TD's and the only QB in NCAA history to throw for over 5,000 yards in two seasons. He sits 4th in career NCAA passing yards. Harrell, much like Tebow, can't throw the 8 yard out because he has a bubble gum arm.
Being a successful NCAA QB does not make you a good pro QB. Timmy Chang, Colt Brennan, David Klingler and countless others are proof.
I have nothing against Tebow, he just isn't a good QB on Sundays.
Agree Tebow is just a baller. I think the jets were stupid for not getting him on the field. Didn't they see what he did last year ? He had a few 300 plus passing games.
Tebow had one 300 yard passing game last year. He completed 10 passes that game and Demaryius Thomas had over 200 yards on four completions - three of which he turned a short gain into a huge play. Tebow completed 46% of his passes in 2011. 46%. Tebow is a smart player who will take care of the football. However, game managers have to be able to move the sticks on 3rd downs. Tebow does not have the NFL arm strength it takes to complete the 3rd down hitch or out. Teams gameplan to take away his ground game and Tebow becomes an enormous liability.
Tebow's greatest asset is that he's extremely intelligent and he takes care of the football. He's not going to lose you the game with mistakes, but chances are he's not capable of putting enough together at this level to consistently win you football games either.
Jacksonville has their QB in Gabbert - he's a million times better prospect than Tebow.
I like Tebow, and maybe he can fit in somewhere, but at the time I thought that the Raiders would have possibly been the only worse choice than the Jets. That was an absolute bonehead decision, and never made any sense.
If the going rate is 7th rounder, Pittsburgh should pick him up. The great Charlie Batch is retiring and Big Ben is always banged up. Leftwich isn't a great for that system. If they would have had him this year it would have been perfect for the that short stint of games.
I'd take him at P'burgh. The Jets took Tebow just as a publicity stunt (t-shirt sales) etc. Tebow mania was running wild. The guy deserves a chance, but I feel he has to be totaly comfortable in his surroundings for him to be confident to perform. Playing in Fla. at college I thought he'd have chosen (if asked) Jax. for a good start as a pro player once he was on the trading block.
Agreed, I really like Tebow as a person and was rooting for him on the Broncos last year, but he just isn't that good. Michael Vick led the nation in passing efficiency as a freshman, but I doubt anyone would argue that he was as accurate as he should have been his first few years in the league. And Vick's arm talent was far superior to Tebow's.
EN is right in that Tebow would probably do better in a system similar to what the Skins are running, but he ran a very similar attack last year and completed 46.5% of his passes. He just isn't accurate enough to be a QB in the NFL right now. Sure Jacksonville may sell a few tickets by picking him up, but I'm sure they'd rather sell more tickets by actually winning some games. Furthermore he isn't that effective of a runner compared to many other QB's to warrant very many touches in that capacity either. If not for the excessive media attention he brings, I would definitely want him on my team as he is a great person and a great leader/locker room guy. He is a good football player and is definitely greater than the sum of his parts, but let's stop making excuses for him and accept him for what he is. Does anyone honestly think he's getting a raw deal given that John Elway didn't think he was good enough to compete and the Jets never gave him a look as a starter despite how putrid Sanchez has been? If he was anywhere close to being good enough to be a starter, the Jets would have given him a shot long ago.

I think what people fail to understand is that Tebow cant be a legitimate backup because he cant run a normal NFL offence. He cant make the throws so for him to be a backup you would have to have run 2 different offensive scemes for your 1st and 2nd QB. We all saw how well that worked for VT this year having no offensive idenity or continuity not to mention the mess that was created with the Jets.
He worked for the Broncos because they basically redid their entire offense and ran the ball 80-90% of the time. One of the games they won last year, he only completed 3 total passes Not many teams would want to do that, as we saw Denver didnt like it either they just knew they had to to have any success at all last year and dumped him as soon as they could for next to nothing.
It's not about where you're from, it's about what you've done..
