I could use a Thanksgiving miracle
Might want to look in another direction for that miracle this week.:)
So Maryland was proactive about this.... I would guess they analyzed SEC versus B 10... maybe even had discussions
Long term are the TV markets better in B10 versus SEC?
Why didn't they try to go SEC? I would agree that they are a better B10 fit than SEC, but honestly they are a TV market that both leagues covet and might have to adjust to the competition, but as the northern most SEC school I have to imagine their recruiting will pick up
You guys have to make it happen. A&M to the SEC was a grass roots movement that started to take shape on the message boards and really reached critical mass after the attempted move the the PAC by half the Big XII. Our leadership was apparently clueless as to the desires of the rank and file until we told them in no uncertain terms what we wanted. From reading your boards, it appears that you guys are in a very similar situation to what we were in early on in the process.
Dude of WV claims the next targets of the BIG are FSU and GT, and he has been both wacko and right in the past, we'll see.
Yea the ACC is no longer enough of a challenge for us, we need to move on to bigger and better things. Beating the UNC's, Pitts, Miamis, and Clemsons of the world gets old after aw-oh wait...
(FWIW, I think if we had moved to the SEC this season of reckoning we just had would have come a lot sooner and the much needed staff changes would have already happened ).
all about the tv markets... GT is Atlanta... FSU may be Florida
ACC would be in serious trouble without GT and FSU
We just need FSU to bolt so we can leave, they need to see the $# Maryland has to pay first...We need to meet with UVA and just agree to go separate ways
Maryland was desperate, not proactive IMO. Their athletic department is a mess and needed money ASAP. If they had a stable budget, I think they would stay in the ACC.
Sure it was about money. All these moves are about money and UMD just hit it out of the park. Wish VT had some vision and action takers.
Maryland is broke and did what they believed was in their best interest. I don't believe anybody is going anywhere at this point but you can bet that VT will not sit by and get left behind. Rutgers is basically in the same situation as Maryland.
Nobody in Atl gives a rats ass about GT, it's all Ga. Bulldogs. Just pick up the Atl paper and turn to the sports section.
I lived in Atl for 12 years and did business with GT for 8 years.
Why in Blue Blazes do we have to wait on FSU? It was always stated that VT would not be the FIRST to leave....the first has left. To sit on your thumbs "waiting" will be where you'll be when the lights are turned out. VT needs to worry about VT, UMD started the exodus.
Again, my point is that I think Maryland felt they HAD to leave. If they had a choice, if money wasn't an issue for the athletic department, I think they stay in the ACC. VT does not believe the HAVE to move because they have a solid budget, so they are going to take their time and wait. We're not in a dire situation like Maryland and Rutgers so we can wait and make the best choice.
SI.com reported that Maryland officials forecast the Big Ten will be paying each of its members $43 million in shared TV and media rights in 2017. The ACC projection for that season is $24 million per member...who is going to turn down TWENTY more million per year? The SEC network (with NC, VA added) would IMO be as much if not more.

GT= ATL market as MD= DC market. Its largely overstated, with UGA and VT actually dominating those markets.
Did you hear Hoo got arrested? Thomas Jefferson would be proud!
I don't see 47 million as being accurate, more than ACC,s for sure but I think that projection is very, very high
SEC would be more... if the B1G can get 40ish million per team, SEC network would pull at least that and probably a lot more.
FSU is not an AAU member school nor are they close to becoming an AAU member. Nebraska was placed on a temporary probationary period and they will be required to become an AAU member in the very near future.
Not to mention that both of these schools would break the geographic tradition of the B1G. FSU would make more money in the Big XII than they would the B1G given the travel costs.
FSU is not going to the B1G.
