Chase doing the bench
Whole family with Shane
Chase in his Game worn jersey
Got some more I'll post later of various things we saw as well. I'll post a recap of the day, let me just say the staff went above and beyond anything we expected.
Hokie man it's the purple with yellow writing
Just ridiculous work dude, unbelievable what you have done for Chase.

This thread fires me up
Shows my wife these pics, had her in tears. This is beyond awesome.
Recap of Friday, sorry this may be a bit of a ramble, trying to remember everything I can.
I met up with the Ringlers around 2, down in Lot 2. At this point all I have Chase was his game worn jersey and the David Wilson signed helmet (courtesy of Champ289) because I didn't want him to have to carry stuff while we were walking around. Chase is a very quiet kid, his parents said the easiest way to tell he is excited, is that hell start tapping his foot, and walking a lot fast. At this point he was skipping and running all over the place while we waited for Shane outside of Merryman. He loved the David Wilson helmet so much, he refused to put it down most of the entire day, and wouldn't let anyone else hold it a lot of the time. For those that may not have read, David was his favorite player for VT, because during treatments Chase was in the hospitals and saw the backflip video on TV, and has been enamored since.
As we're waiting on Shane, Chase is skipping around, when Kyle Fuller walks out, and Chase just somewhat went into shock, with this larger than life player, right beside him now. I explained who KF was, and Kyle signed Chase's jersey and talked to him for awhile. Then we explained the Fuller family heritage at VT, and Chase thought it was crazy he had so many brothers that were so good.
After another 5 minutes or so, the door opens to Merryman, Shane walks out, and this day takes on a ride that none of us expected. After introducing the family and taking for a minute, we go into the VT HOF area, Whitney asked of they were allowed o take pics, to which Shane responded "y'all can do whatever you'd like, just make yourself at home." Shane shows us around some trophies, and memorable VT moments, Chase takes a pic with the hokie bird statue, and gets to see some players walking to the field. Shane says hold on I need to grab something, and a minute later, Frank is walking in, at that point the whole family was in shock somewhat. Frank talked to them for 5-10 minutes about everyday things, living in SC, the game, signed stuff, told Chase to give them good luck, and posed for pictures. At this point frank heads on, and we thought that be the end of seeing him for the day.
Next were heading down the halls, meeting people in the offices, and we meet Ballein, he talks to Chase about running out of the tunnel, and told him "you can't run on that field unless you touch the hokiestone, or I'm coming for you." When we walked away Chase was concerned, and told his dad "I don't think I can reach it, what do I do?" Which we all found very funny. So now were making out journey to the tunnel, accompanied by Kyshoen, JC, Tweedy, and Shane. Chase loved being in the tunnel, hearing the echoes, and cheers. He got to run down it with some players, who lifted him to the hokiestone when he couldn't reach. Truly one of the most touching moments I've ever witnessed in my life, to see him reaching for the stone, but be too small, and have others lift him to smack it.
Next we hit the field in Lane, how big that looks to anyone from the field, much less a 9 year old, walking amongst the giants that he loves. Players are playing touch football, and other random games, and chase is just in awe of everything at this point. Shane is with us this whole time, repeatedly making sure Chase gets to do, see, and meet everyone and everything he wants. Standing on the 50, Shane disappears or a minute, then we hear this big voice, and Chase turns around, and is looking right into Logan's legs, he just looks up at LT in amazement. Logan spends a good amount of time talking, taking pics, and Chase gives him a CAC wristband which Logan immediately puts on, then signs Chase's jersey. Chase was so awestruck he could barely talk to Logan.
Shane went out of his way to send over every coach, the big name players, plus every other person who would have any tie to Chase in some way, being from SC, Newport News, anything. He met every single coach, including Cav, all talked for extended amounts of time, Bud Foster was great, who we met multiple times through the day. They broke into drills, practiced STs for awhile, and Shane said just run a over, do whatever you want, players will be on the sidelines, talk to anyone you want, just make yourself at home. After the ST practice Frank walks back back down the field (after talking to bucky for a few that is) to find chase, and just make sure he is having fun, and getting to do what he wants. Incredible gesture, he talked another 5-10 minutes just to make the family feel at home.
At this point were thinking its wrapping up, but it's really only beginning, Shane then takes us on tours of every facility remotely important to VT football, and VT sports. He made sure all the players got clothes on in the locker room so Chases mom and sis wouldn't miss part of the tour. He gave detailed explanations of every room, what everything meant, the pictures on the wall, let Chase play in the locker room, we compared Chases shoe to Logan's, and chase got to hold LTs game helmet for today (which the players love FYI)
We got the tour of Cassell, players lounge, locker rooms, Franks office, HOF area, meeting rooms, Mike Vick Hall, the hallway with AAs, chase worked out in the weight room, and loved the records board, and the tackling dummies in the warmup room. Seeing Chase try to use the big ropes that the players whip against the wall was priceless. Chase was very inquisitive on who the strongest players were, as he is in a stage where he wants big muscles.
This is over 2 hours later we've come complete circle, at the front of Merryman, and were taking final pics with Shane, Chase is wearing his jersey, clinging to his DW helmet. Shane is thanking us for letting him be a part of this, the family is trying to put into words how to say thank you. Shane asks Chase multiple times if he got to do, see, meet everyone he wanted, then tells them, if y'all think of anything we kissed or you want to see just contact me and I can take you around tomorrow, make sure he gets to see everything he wants.
I'm sure I left some things out, so I'll post little tidbits as I remember. All I can say, is that I have never been more proud to be a Hokie than I was yesterday. The entire staff, especially Shane, went above and beyond, more than I can explain. 1-10 I'm not kidding when I say yesterday was 100. The Hokie Family is no joke, and everyone made us feel like we were their best friends. There was some great quotes, and tears shed in happiness, however Norm Wood followed us the whole day, and is doing a big article on Sunday, so I'll let that run, and then add if I remember anything that's missed in it.
As corny as this will sound, win or lose tomorrow, everyone should be up cheering our staff, and team as they walk off the field, they're already winners in my book, and made a families dream come true, which was bigger than football.
Please ask any questions you want, is love to answer, as y'all made this happen, and it's tough to remember everything at once.
With that said GO HOKIES!!!
This is awesome.... they should let him lead them out the tunnel today.
Great job. We really have a lot of great people at VT. Frank beamer is one the best people you will ever meet. Chase might have been the smallest guy on the field but I guarantee he was the toughest.
Such a great story. GOD BLESS everyone that made this happen for this young Hokie!!!
Slight allergy attack coming on as I read this.
Extremely happy for Chase. Bringing a smile to a kid (and his family) that has been through hell is the biggest win of the year. Equally proud of the Hokie family coming together to make this happen - both inside the program and out.
Well done everyone.
Great job to everyone involved with this.

Norm Wood's article is up.
With a five-year struggle against stage 4 cancer behind him, Ringler got the ultimate Hokie football experience Saturday for Tech's game against Virginia
To 5284 and the rest of the people that came together to make this happen. May GOD bless you for the rest of your days on earth and after. Simply wonderful!!!
Amazing story. Makes me proud to be in the Hokie family.
It was really cool seeing that smile on little mans face yesterday. Definitely pulls at the old heart strings. Props to 5284 guy has a huge heart. This is the kind of thing that really gives you a different perspective on VTs family atmosphere. It truly is just that.
Truely awesome work by everybody involved in this! Pics were very heartwarming.
