in the preseason?
They just beat Wisconsin to go 8-4 this year, 6-2 in conference.
If their head coach can figure out how to get that performance out of their team based on their circumstances, then what the hell are we doing?
Is that retorical?
for a team on probation, i think every game they had was on TV....how the hell does that happen?
Their transfers and scholly losses won't be fully felt for two to three years. See USC this year. No depth means you'll struggle despite the talent level.
no doubt, i certainly agree with you. but O'Brien has done a hell of a job with the circumstances he was given. he was going into this season with a lot more challenges than we were facing and he got his team to 8-4.
i might be alone on this, but to me O'Brien's success in view of our failures speaks volumes to me.
it happens by ESPN thumbing their nose at the NCAA and promoting PennSt. anyway!!
At halftime when O' Brein was asked what they had to do to get better he said "the team is playing well...the kids are playing great. I've got to be a better coach." When asked to explain he said "I'm the coach...I've got to figure out how to move the ball on this team." God I would love to hear that from our coach someday.
Little misquote by Obrien after the game. I think he meant to say his players were a bunch of fighters. Instead he said they were a bunch of another word that start with an F.
Heard O'Brien say that too! I laughed.
That was hilarious.
The word you guys are skirting is Fockers. They may make a movie about them.
I think you about nailed it. It was pretty funny
After defeating Wisconsin, Penn State head football coach Bill O'Brien refers to his team as a "bunch of f***ers" live on ESPN2 during his post-game interview.
O'Brien seems to be legit, he rallied the troops and can relate to the players. I'm curious if he can parlay that into a head coaching job in the NFL? I'd get out of there quick because his opportunities won't be as good in a few years when he won't have the depth to win 8 games.
The Big 10 is the ACC basically, with a decent defense you can win 8 games if you don't turn the ball over 3 times a game. I thought PSU would suck this year simply because their red headed QB is the worst QB I've watched the past few years.
