Is anyone else sick and tired of these stupid crybaby, 4 and 5 star kids yet??? They are complete douches and quit at the first sign of a road block to the NFL!!!!! Lets put coach Cav back in their and get the steal picks of Jake Grove, Lee Suggs, Brandon Flowers, and guys that have a chip on their shoulder and play team football!!! Our program crashed when we got Stars in our eyes 3 years ago! Now we have 4 star talent and 1 star intestinal fortitude!!!!!

Speaking of, looks like Nkemdiche is taking his HS posse with him, David Kamara has decommitted from Clemson
Just saw that too haha
Nkemdiche is pure poison. Remember him coming out a few months ago and saying Clemson would have to offer 1 more of his team mates before he was 100% solid on his commitment?
London all out of package deals?
Did you hear Hoo got arrested? Thomas Jefferson would be proud!
Doc, you seem to be a little upset.
These Pre Madonnas will do it to you.
I wouldn't want anything to do with that kid. I don't care how talented he is, could be a locker room killer.
I disagree with every word of this. The reason we are so bad is because we didn't get enough 4 and 5 star players 3 years ago, we are paying for all the recruiting misses we had. This team is talent deprived at some positions and it will take more Tellers, Mihota's and Fishers along with some Fullers and Hands to get this program back on track. We all saw this coming a couple years ago, it just took programs like Clemson and FSU to finally wake up and take back over the ACC. Only good news is the coastal can be taken most years with average VT teams that play with heart. UM will be down for years to come and I don't see Fedora there for the long haul. This is the way it goes sometimes.
You think negotiating with a kid like Nkemdiche and offering 4 of his team mates is the direction we need to go? I agree we need high quality recruits, but you think if they are good enough, then they should be able to say, Beamer you just stfu, and let me tell what you are going to do for me to get me to play ball for VT?
he's a different story, Dabo made his bed with that group. I think a lot of people knew he wasn't going to stick, with the lure of Bama and his brother being at Ol Miss. It would be nice for kids to stay with the school they choose, but even 14 years ago the nations number 1 recruit switched from UVa to UNC, it's not going to stop till we get an early signing period.
Agree on the early signing period. Would be a geat step towards eliminating a lot of the craziness.
there are just as many 3 star kids with the same attitude it just gets alot more attention when it's a higher profile kid that we were counting on. Kids like teller, caleb, fisher etc are all highly rated recruits that I would take every day.
Well said. The NCAA is so blind to simple changes that if nothing else would give kids who are sick of being hounded every minute a little help. But the facts are facts in recruiting stars win games and it's just that simple. Great players win games and make other players better.
Don't be that guy
We have a 3 star roster by and large. But it's hard to imagine achieving what we have without kids like Tyrod Taylor, Ryan Williams, David Wilson, Logan Thomas, Jayron Hosley, Macho Harris, Eddie Royal, Kevin Jones, etc.
What I would like are 4-5* recruits with a chip on their shoulder. Current verbals that come to mind are Teller and Mihota. I don`t think VT will have a problem with them giving 100% on every play.
The crybabies andprimadonas yeah, I cant' stand them but most of the 4 and 5 * guys are ok in my book. Give me a lot of them and I'll be happy.
Honestly, it has nothing to do with attitude among the 4-5 star players. It varies just like with walk-ons, 2 star players, and 3 star players. It may hurt more when a 4 star player does not live up to expectations because those expectations are higher, but there are just as many 3 star players with bad attitudes. The problem is that the 4-5 star players are leaving the program earlier and its hurt our depth. It's required guys who need to develop a few years to step in right away. That coupled with recruiting misses has hurt his team. Two positions we recruit very well (DB and RB) are struggling right now because of attrition. The attitude is not the problem at either position, we just don't have our usual experience and it's put pressure on other positions that have relied on those two spots. Unfortunately, other spots have not stepped up in their absence this year.
You have to be a Hokie coach. In the interest of full disclosure, I'm going to follow you around and red-vote you until my last dying breath or i run out of money for a subscription.
You can find plenty of exceptions to the rule. But you can't build a MNC team around the exceptions because they are too hard to find.
Besides that you and your country clubbing friends are supposed to coach them up in any and every way possible.
....and early departures (Evans, Williams, Wilson, Hosely, etc.)
I'm not a coach, however you can't build a team around 4 and 5 star potential. We need 4 and 5 star players. That's the difference. Saban and Miles have 4 and 5 star players and we have a lot of 4 and 5 star potential. Our coaches are the best in the business at coaching players, however Beamer isn't good at coaching all types of kids and has a hard time with kids that don't come 100% of the time. He did wonders with Corey Moore, Jake Grove, Kam Chancellor, Brandon Flowers, DJ Parker, Vinnie Fuller and those types. In contrast though struck out with kids I don't think is right to mention on here that maybe had lots of talent, but didn't have the intensitity to BRING IT every play every game. Saban and Miles get that or cut your ass and Beamer cares too much to just drop a kid and lets them stay and get an education which in turn hurts the team when they become Cancers.
