Doughty's VA top 25 is way off. Fisher at #8 and Hackenberg as #1 lolzzzz
Teller #11, Doughty gets worse and worse
Wow, Teller at 11? That's laughable. Where is Bucky?
Bucky is 4. Smoke 3. Allen 2.
Malcolm Cook 13, corwin cutler 14 (LOL), charles Clark 21, dJ Reid 22
Pfaff at 27 and Jefferson at 31...just crazy.
Here's the link.
Top-25 recruits 2012
At least we know what to expect from him.
Jefferson might be the most athletic 31st ranked player in the history of that list. I still can't understand why he doesn't have dozens if offers with that film.
Those rankings are AWFUL!!!!! 2014 isnt much better, Holmes and Mihota too low and no Marshawn Williams at all. SMDH
There are atleast 100 people on this board more qualified to make a top 25 list than Doughty.
I'm fairly certain I've watched more film on those guys than Doughty.
Hackenberg is not the best player in the State.
Decision making is so big for a QB, and the fact that he chose PSU at this point tells me that Hackenberg has issues there. It will be interesting to see how he does there. Despite a pretty good season this year, their lack of scholarships over most of the time he's there will take its toll.
"IF" we can bring in a GOOD quality OC and "IF" he is allowed to bring HIS assistants, then I would expect most of that bias against all things VT should subside.
Hackenberg did choose a coach that coached Tom Brady at NE. Plus as others have said his family is from PA. He had a lot of big time offers and was ranked high at the elite 11 QB camp. I think he finished in the top 5 and does look the part.
Appears to be a very good coach, but remember all those other NE coaches like Weis, Mangini, Haley, etc. that got hired away from NE/Brady and didn't do so well. None of them had the pressure of reduced scholarships (Weis the only college one) that will add up year after year. By the time Hackenberg's in his 3rd year, they will be down to 60 total scholarships on the roster....good luck with that.
2nd at elite 11 = likely nfl future
Not necessarily. Don't get me wrong, not cliaming he's not a good QB, and not saying he shouldn have chosen VT, because I don't think there was mutual interest...just can't understand a guy with his potential choosing that mess.
2nd is very impressive and he probably does deserve to be number one.
Corwins ranking I don't have a problem with because I think he threw 31 or so Td's with only one int ? which is impressive also. I haven't watched his film.
Not sure Hackenberg is looking at the wins and losses. I would doubt he is. Psu was probably his favorite for his whole life so he stuck with them. Then he gets to be coached by O'Brien and he probably believes he will get early playing time. I think he is looking at the next level and playing time. jmo
I'm hoping with a new OC, VT can start to land and develop guys like him, and the guys choosing to go to Stanford. One Virginia QB goes to ND one to Psu and another to Stanford. The change can't happen soon enough. I know some Virginia guys have ties to a lot of places, but the Hokies have been losing too many talented offensive players from this state.
