BJ Upton in center now. Trading Hanson for a strong arm in the pen. Good moves?
i was a huge hanson fan a few years ago, he kind of plateaued. probably a good move.
I'm ehhh about Upton. His OBP has been declining every year and he strikes out a lot. Though he does have some pop and steals bases and is a great fielder. My concern is who they get to complement him that plays LF and hopefully can leadoff. Don't want to move Prado from the 2 hole and don't think Simmons is ready to be a leadoff hitter yet.
Like Waldron a lot. He easily replaces Durbin and is cheaper. He was an All Star a couple years ago and pretty dominate. Hopefully his shoulder issue from last season is behind him.
I do think we could still trade a young pitcher and get the other Upton. We still have tons of starting pitching depth.
Upton brings a little moren power but his career BA is 267 or somewhere around that. The braves are going to miss bourn alot. He was the best base runner flr braves in a long long time. With having him and Prato hitting 1,2 was crucial.
I am excited to see BJ..but when we dish out this amount of cash for a player it.always seems they never live up to the deal. I hope we can add one more bat that is a pure avg. Hitter and a situational hitter.
Fredie Freeman is about to have a huge break season. Even bigger then last year.
Upton simply not that great....another Uggla type, but with speed ....a .240 hitter or so with 1 exception to that (which pulls his career avg up a bit)...less than .300 OBP and 160+ strikeouts is mediocre and not worth the cash. Hanson was great 3 years ago, they must feel like the arm is not coming back. He lost 5 mph on his fastball - too bad. Hopefully Beach can make it back.

I think he might reach his potential here in ATL....we need speed and he at least has that. If he can bat around .275 we will be in good shape.
I accidentally hit down vote! Sorry. Ha.
Bourn had an awful second half but I'll miss his speed on the basepaths. I like Upton's right-handed power bat. Lord knows we need it with Struggla sucking wind for the majority of his days in a Brave uniform.
Then up vote me man!!!! Hah. I think if we can bring in a hitter that can move runners, sac bunt/fly...in any situation...we could have a special team. If Beachy comes back pitching like he was and Medlen continues doing what he is doing shit is going to be on lock...eith Hudson too.
Go braves baby

Upton has been playing in the hardest division in baseball. Coming over to the national league and during his prime years could do him so good where he can shine. At first I was upset about Hanson but with Delgado and Tehran has to make room somewhere. Hudson, Medlen, Beachy, and Minor weren't going anywhere. I'm a little surprised the Braves re-signed Maholm.
Won't be enough to catch the Nats, but good luck with that.
Word is the Upton brothers want to play together. Can the braves get that done? Would love to have lol Upton in left. Call me crazy but I've got a soft spot for Georgie castanza...probably just the name itself. I'll miss Bourne though.
Loving Wren right now, and I love this move to sign Upton. He's a player, and I think he'll be a very solid addition to the Braves. We'll miss Bourn - especially early in the season - but Upton is about as good a player we could have hoped to sign. If we manage to sign Justin Upton without losing SImmons, we may have one of the best lineups in baseball.
On top of all that, Medlen and Beachy alone can be #1 starters teamed with the best bullpen in baseball? If we land a solid LF, I will seriously write this up as easily my favorite off season since the 90s.
(Most of) You guys know me too, I'm not the consummate optimist this post makes me out to be, it takes quite a bit for me to get this excited about an offseason.

Doubt it. D-backs really want Simmons and the Braves will not trade him. Simmons is going to be a great SS.
