Did you hear Hoo got arrested? Thomas Jefferson would be proud!
Going to the Wed night game! $1 hotdog night, time to get weird.
Damn...not sure if that is a good thing or not? Them some good dogs.
Harper's swing is dialed in right now, had he gone with the pitch on AB #3 that one goes out too
Gonna have to pull out my 33 jersey for tomorrow. Nats are my second favorite team and the families first so definitely a house divided when they play.
Screw the expos.
Alright. Here ya go:
Losing takes it's toll on all fan bases. Fifteen straight years. O's fans were still drawing nearly 2.5 million a year 10 years into the losing streak. Only been subpar attendance for the last five and it cam back strong--very strong-- by August of last year.
I challenge you to find another fanbase that drew like Baltimore did during ten consecutive losing seasons. Go back to Yankee Stadium and Fenway during the 80's and 90's respectively and those places were empty after like three consecutive losing seasons.
Baltimore fans can be called lots of things, but "fair weather" isn't one of them.
Oh, am not saying I can find one stronger. I'll give you that. I think Bmore has a very passionate fanbase. However, the argument wasn't about passion, so seeing DC being mentioned as "fair weather" may be true, but all fan bases are. Just calling you out on that term.
Personally I don't even use the "fair-weather" term because as long as you pull for your team no matter what, then that is what matters. Games cost money, how people choose to spend their money is their issue.
Keep in mind the Nats are a young franchise, so a lot of the shots at the Nats I see on here are sort of unfair. People are showing up to the Nats games now just like other teams when they become good, and keep in mind DC's team is new. It's hard to build that fan base when the team left forever ago and with DC transplants rooting for other teams.
I also only chimed in because we've seen Braves threads on here as well, but when it's a Nats thread then it gets hijacked by Bmore fans with something to prove. I get that you all are nearby and have to go up against the sox and yanks and won't have the money to spend, it isn't DC's fault. I'm also not a hijack police guy, was an observation based on Nats threads.
I was neutral starting out as far as the Nats go. Last year ruined it when the fan (perhaps the fair weather fans being talked about) turned out to be very UVA like at games. I'll still go if the O's aren't in town and some friends want to go (in fact I'm going in 2 weeks vs the Braves), but I will definitely be wearing VT gear.
Half of the people you continually poop on in this thread are VT alum. Yes, half of the people who live in Arlington and wear boat shoes went to VT. If you want to make a generalist remark about the DC yuppies that pop their collars (UVA fans) then say Georgetown and Foggy Bottom, because Arlington is mainly VT and PSU alum.
