No mention of Benedict.
Shuman 6-7 307lbs Acree 6-4 304 lbs Miller 6-5 312 lbs Farris 6-3 309 lbs Gibson 6-6 312 lbs
That's pretty damn big. And those are last years measurments. Acree must be turning heads. Happy for him.
Acree was turning heads last year before his injury...
I'm guessing it's more a case of Acree being needed more inside than he is needed at tackle (i.e.: Grimes feels reasonably comfortable with Shuman, Conte, Gibson and Taraschke as his four tackles.)
But I hope I'm wrong and that you're right about his development. It would be a huge boost to the interior of our OL if the light truly came on for him. He's a good kid and he's had some incredibly crappy luck.
And yes, that's a pretty hefty OL, for sure. I remember back when a 300 pound O-lineman was a relative oddity. Now they seemingly grow on trees.
Benedict will likely begin the spring as the no. 1 at RG so no worries here. Although, if Acree can put it together and stay healthy watch out!
That is a BIG dude. I'm really pulling for Nic, hopefully that's not too much weight for his knees. I am hoping the staff has made him build up his base more as he was a little top heavy coming out of HS. I know he has worked his tail off to rehab from his injuries and I'd hate to see him go down again.
Its funny how some guys seem like they just got here and are already juniors / in their 3rd year (Marshall, Maddy, Nicholas) and to me it seems like Acree has been here forever and he's still only a RS-soph.
I was wrong, Nic is a rs junior.
Out of the 3 years so far he's been hurt 2 years, I believe he has been working his lower body a lot.
