Arians 'loves' RB Williams: Bruce Arians said his familiarity with Virginia Tech Hokies football has given him a good working knowledge of ex-Hokie and current Cardinals running back Ryan Williams. "I know that Ryan [Williams] can flat run the football," the new Cardinals head coach told FOX Sports. "I'm a Hokie. I know all about Ryan and I love him."
Cardinals will quickly become a team I root for. Still bummed my Bears didn't hire Bruce.
GDubs, you're a Bears fan too?! Do you like the Blackhawks?
Nope. Have never gotten into hockey.
I kinda became a Bears fan by default. Loved all things Baltimore (Orioles and Colts) as a kid. Still a die-hard Birds fan today. In fact, I'm almost a bigger Birds fan than Hokies.....almost.
Anyway..... you know the story. The Colts packed up in the middle of the night and left Baltimore. As a result, I didn't have a football team to root for for a number of years. Sure as hell wasn't gonna root for the 'Skins so I rooted for the Cowboys for a few years but that just felt dirty. They were all glitz and glam. Baltimore is a blue-collar city and they've always had sports teams that reflect their city's personality.
Well.... circa 1992 my cousin married into some $$$ in Chicago. Season tickets in hand. Have always visited annually and usually get to a Bears game at least every other year. I had already been to three games and rooted hard for the Bears for four years by the time the Ravens came to be in 1996. I debated going back but I had given my heart to the Bears.
Admittedly, I have a soft spot for the Ravens-- especially with Tyrod (one of my all-time favorite Hokies) playing for them. I was certainly rooting for them in the Super Bowl. But if it came down to a Chicago-Baltimore Super Bowl, no question, I'd be cheering for the Bears.
Fade to Black!
As performed by the Chicago Symphony. I remember seeing them perform this on "Entertainment Tonight" the Friday before their victory in Super Bowl XX.
Look up George Preas and Madison "Buzz" Nutter.
Nice! Former Hokies and Colts. I enjoyed reading their bios.
God rest their souls.
