This ^^^ and this vvv
Oban is the frontier between the West Highlands and the Islands; the meeting place between land and sea. This misty, briny character, with a background of heather and peat, is perfectly echoed in the malt whisky produced at Oban.
This is what I'm gonna get rid of tonight....
Res ipsa loquitur...Let the good times roll
Blantons, Keep it in the Frezzer so no ice needed. If I am mixing it bourbon it is Wild Turkey Rare Breed, but I only mix bourbon at tailgates with Coke and in home made egg nog for the holidays.
On special occasions, Booker's.
Socializing, Jack & Ginger.
Partying, Henry McKenna.
My local beverage store said it had to be pre-ordered, and probably a year wait.
On the positive note, a friend did bring me a small bottle of cherry moonshine this morning.
IF this was a clue...
bourbon ---> louisville ---> shawn watson
I miss being in VA and getting Mason Jars of the Damson shine from Franklin County.
In order of cost / amount I'm drinking:
Henry McKenna & Fresca or ginger
Jim Beam Black - mixed or on the rocks
Woodford - on the rocks
More of a Scotch drinker, I will take a bourbon and say thank you and enjoy but I don't buy it for home. Give me it to me with a coke, so I don't need the good stuff...I had Basil H over the holidays, I could get used to that one, and no, I didn't put a mixer in it.
Go to at home is Balvinie, like many of the Speysides but when comparing the under $80s this one always wins, for me and most of my buddies.
Glenrothes Robar Reserve is my favorite, can only buy it in duty free, about $100. I don't even try much high because I am not going to buy them.
Maybe an ice cube, but nothing more.
Woodford Reserve, on the rocks, for sipping at home or at a good bar.
For tailgates, I have to go with Wild Turkey Rare Breed, with a little diet ginger ale (mixer so I can actually make it to the game). It is just a fan loyalty thing.
That stuff is too peaty for me...perfect description
For our tailgates it's George Dickel No. 12 and coke. Helps make the party last a little longer and keep some memories from the game. I recently got turned onto Beam and Sundrop as a social drink. You'd think it'd be gross, but it's not too far off from ginger, just a little sweeter.
I had some stuff at a buddies house the other night that was some type of Bourbon that had blueberry in it, it was a nice change of pace over some ice. Usually I drink Beam or Evan Williams with a splash of coke.
