Seems like the new OC is average and the O Line coach is a home run. Can't find anything that makes me think this new OC is a stud but I'm very encouraged about Grimes.
It all starts up front, even an average offense will do wonders compared to what we have been blessed with.
THE ONLY THING I'M ADDICTED TO IS WINNING--CHARLIE SHEEN
Good points. He can't be any worse than we've had
Look at it like this, lets say the OC is the exact same as the previous. We now have a better OL coach, and 2 recruiters that are better. So at the very worst we have improved OL play, and improved talent across the board.
Give him a chance with his type of players in the system. Running a pro style system with players made for the spread is not going to go well. VT is more built for his system right now then Auburn ever was.
I hope this turns out to be a good hire for you guys and not some cheap hire made by a coach more deserving of an early retirement.
I'll be rooting for you guys very hard against Bama and think if you guys can sneak out a win, then maybe Beamer has a little bit more left in the the tank.
VT hasn't returned to the mountain top in many years, I hope Beamer is still capable.

The Atlantic Coast Conference: A Tradition of Excellence... Then, Now and Always
Hasn't returned to the mountain top in many years? What ACC Conference have you been watching because we have owned it since joining the conference. 4 BCS Bowls in 5 years ain't too shabby though the win loss record leaves something to be desired.

hard to give the OC a grade...a year here and a year there as OC. however, his QB pedigree is pretty good and he will be the QB coach as well. agree on the OL coach, probably as good as we could hope for.
I think he means playing for a MNC. Which is true.
Thanks for the back handed encouragement.
need to hit the books again. New OC is an order of magnitude better than what we had. Oline the same.
OLine the same? Is this a typo? Or were you referring to the fact that we have the same players? Grimes could be terrible and still be a major upgrade over Newsome
I think he meant that to mean the same as the upgrade to OC.
bad reading comprehension although he could have worded it better...
Just reading his resume, I see a lot of things that keep me from making a finite decision as to whether he is top flite, middle of the road, or below average. I then look at where he has worked and find a lot of very good football minds that have faith in him. Unfortunetly, the last position was a clusterf--- and one he should not have taken.
I have to feel that he has what it takes to be an above average oc who has somthing to prove. People who have somthing to prove usually perform at a pretty high level.
The job SCL was hired to do at Auburn was a 2-4 year rebuilding/installation of a new offense, he was given one year. His biggest problem was taking that job.
