Jim Weaver just said on TTL that they are trying to install a new video board within the next 18 months It is about time!
He also said that our current one isn't bad when you compare it to others..... That doesn't make me feel confident on what we will get..

Respect with the Tech
yeah, don't get that comment at all. This list of the top 87 boards (by size) in the FBS doesn't even have us on it. Hokiesports lists our video board (not the whole board, which I suspect Weaver is using) as 11x12 which would put us at 3rd from last of the FCS boards on the list and fully 80sqft smaller than the smallest one on the FBS list (Bowling Green)
Maybe it's just me but I feel like when it will be nice. We might be slow to get some things but once we do they are usually top notch. The bball facility, the locker room and lounge, lane, etc. I'm stoked.
are we getting a new sound system to go with this new video board?
Now you are just getting greedy!!!
Hokiefan86.....no way our video board is that small. You are referring to the advertising boards on the side. The actual screen is much larger than that. Just take a look at the picture and do some comparisons with the people standing below it.
I am hopeful for a great new board. Jim Weaver must have heard the broad desire for a top-level board. It would be great to get something similar to what Wake Forest has. My only question is where would we put it? Could we go bigger behind the North Endzone? Plus, during the day when the sun shines on the board it is not great. Could we put it above the South Endzone?
Some tough decisions to be made.
I'm curious also on the placement. If they put it in north endzone you would think it would have to be placed in an area where if they decided to expand in the future it wouldn't interfere with that.
Don't get Too excited, I posted here about month ago on what was said on the new scoreboard. Location, size and all the info that was told at a Hokie Club function. Got called out by several posters on this info. BUT don't get too excited IF they stick with the plans that was told at this function last month.
Yeah, you're right. The Hokiesports description is a bit misleading, and there doesn't seem to be any info anywhere on the size of the video board itself.
Whats the size? You know it'll be a Vizio too. Cheap piece of junk.

Did you hear Hoo got arrested? Thomas Jefferson would be proud!
Hey, I have a Vizio...
Well, I guess it beats a Westinghouse!
What are they going to do with the old one?
They should put it on the outside of the East Stands facade so folks who leave at halftime in order to go back to their tailgates in Lot 1 to get liquored up can still watch the rest of the game.
Pretty tight w/ a large donor that said goal is beginning of 2014 season and it will be quite nice. Didn't think to ask about sound but I feel like that goes hand and hand.
Having said that, his info seems 'optimistic' at times.
Can someone confirm?
