I said it 2 or 3 games ago, I really do not think we win another game this year.
Other than Green, we do not have a legit number 2 option. Raines, Eddie, and Brown are way too inconsistent and Eddie and Brown can't hit the broad side of the barn. We have zippy depth as well.
I really think we are toast. We have two ACC wins, one against a bad WF team at home where we escaped by 1 pt and beat a pretty average GT on the road in OT where we stole one.
I see more close losses as the season wraps up to the average ACC teams and blowouts to the good ACC teams to end the year. Next year we could possibly go 0-fer in the ACC and set a record for no wins in the conference with no Green. Who the hell is going to score next year? We have 0 offensive threats other than Green.
This is beyond horrible.
We keep losing games with the same formula... As much as I like JJ he is way over his head. We just don't manage the game very well and we are talented enough to overcome it. JJ needs to come with 3-5 plays a game that we can run to get Green open...
Agree +10000. I'd give you all my upvotes if I could.
Did you hear Hoo got arrested? Thomas Jefferson would be proud!
Saying JJ is in over his head is a stretch
its hoops... running 3 - 5 plays a game on one player ain't gonna help you.... everyone who thinks you are a threat will study film
this team needs other players to step up.... Brown hits that shot and it might be just what he needed!
If Brown is not getting laid, could someone take care of that? Get him to be instinctual and build up the kids confidence in the process please. Kid is in a funk that redefines funk. Got no rhythm got no trust in his form...needs to just F it ... let it go and feel it....stop thinking so damn much.
A better handle, a nasty J and that kid could be seriously good. Hope it happens for him... sooner than later.
Brown and Eddie combined to go 0-8 on 3s, had a combined 4 points and 5 tournovers.
Here is a stat for you, Raines had more blocked shots than Eddie and Brown had combined points.
Had no idea until I saw the boxscore a bit ago, but Raines blocked 5 shots.
JJ is completely over his head. We have been in a bunch of games down to the wire and we don't have any quality plays to get Green good looks or in position to at least draw contact and get to the line.
How could any coach run a play for Brown right now given that he shoots 18% from the floor. That makes no sense...
Because Green is such a threat you would think that we could run something that allows for Eddie to shoot an open set 3.
Just very frustrating to watch right now, and we are well on our way to finishing last in the ACC. We fired Greenberg for not getting us to the NCAA tournament and we are going to finish in last place this year, and quite frankly I am not sure how we are going to do any better than that next year once Green leaves.
Like the North Carolina game? That didn't work out too well. Not really Green's fault but you get my point. EG can't be "ON" every game. At some point his teammates have to step up.
If it were that easy to give the ball to Green every time, I'm sure JJ would write it up that way. But when everybody and their brother knows Green's the man, the opposing team's gonna try like hell to deny him.
If Brown could hit the broad side of a barn and Eddie would stop thinking so much, we wouldn't be in a position where Green needs to score damn near every point. It's quite simple, other than Green, OUR GUARDS CAN'T SHOOT. This fact makes it extremely hard to design and run plays when these guys don't pose a threat at all.
Raines came to play last nite......Brown is trying to do the same type of floater that Eric pulls off....the problem is Brown just kinda throws it in the general direction of the basket....he just needs to be himself.....
Doubtful the play was designed to go to Brown. The problem is the inconsistency of Brown and Eddie that leads to tremendous ball pressure on Green down the stretch. You practically don't need to guard those guys, so it makes this team incredibly easy to defend.
BTW, in the UNC game, Green had a great look to win the game. That is his favorite shot and, though contested, he got it off cleanly.
This team can't put it together. It seems we can't get more than 2 people to play well in a game. When Eddie has played well recently, Green has a bad game against UNC and no one else produces. Then when we get Raines involved, Eddie goes ice cold.
You can blame this on JJ, and I'm not saying he's without fault. But you have a guy who is supposed to be your shooter who can't shoot and a playmaker at the 2 that can't make anything either.
Every team is going to focus on Green at the end of a close game... there is no rocket science here... its just common sense.
There is no magic bean that will get Green open at the end of the game if one or two of the other players can't become offensive threats.
Thank Weaver's lack of patience, lack of strategic thinking, and rashness for this fiasco... the many shouldn't be allowed to break eggs in the morning not because he is sick but because he lack the temperament for the job... if we had kept DFS this season would have been different. If we had kept the stud recruit we'd probably be ranked right now and instead of stinking up the joint, Eddie and Brown would be developing as role players anxious to be key players next season. Now they're probably afraid of next year.
