Well that settles it.
We all know a vote of confidence from the higher ups means you are safe.

Yep. Whenever the administration has to come out and give a vote of confidence,it means you are on thin ice.
More often than not...this is just a way of identifying a dead man walking.
Consider that London's official welcome to the hot seat.
Time to get that resume in order......vote of confidence= kiss of death.....
Why on Earth would they do that now? This is the off season and there is not any pressure to say or do anything at this point and it would be much better to wait and see how the season plays out. Oliver is hanging around the kitchen a little too much and sooner or later he is going to burn the meal.
Hahaha probably because 4 different pubs just came out with London on their HOT HOT seat lists!
He dug the hole even deeper than London's Hot Seat:
“To me, success at Virginia, and I don’t care what anybody says, means seven or eight wins a year,” Oliver said, knowing that a large portion of his fan base might not agree.
Imagine the AD or Assistant AD at VT saying that?! I don't care what their message board fans say...UVA is not a football school, and doesn't care if it isn't.
Every single recruit needs to get a copy of this. "The Dream" has been defined. Wow!
"Come to UVA..... where we see success as VT's worst year in 20!"
What an awful, awful football program. It's actually embarrassing for a major state university to have such a low opinion of itself. I give them credit for being realists, though.
UVA = Wyoming.
Jon Oliver on Mike London’s job security
“Mike London is our football coach, and will be our football coach for a long period of time,” he said. “There is no question about that. My boss has made that clear, and I will fight to the death to make sure he has every opportunity to be successful, and I know this administration will support him in that effort. There are no questions about Mike London’s tenure.”
Why don't I believe you?
"I will fight to the death"
football terrorism? football jihad? wtf?
..."a long period of time" is relative. To a man on death row awaiting execution, several months might seem like a long period of time.
One last question colonel Jessup. If Santiago was scheduled to be transferred off the base the next morning, why was it necessary to warn the men?
Godfather Kiss of Death scene in The Godfather II and Billy Madison LOL
The planted seeds must be taking hold or there is no reason to say anything
Exactly. When Hokie fans say it it doesn't really stick but when every major news outlet in the country is saying he's on the hot seat than it starts to resonate. My prediction is they win 4 games this year and he somehow squeaks out 1 more year. If he wins 3 than he's gone, wins 5 than they'll give him a contract extension
The clock is ticking on that dude and he ain't smart enough to use a time-out!
I heard they are still "building -a -Program"....wouldn't they have to start all over since the Right Rev. whined around and threw his old staff under the bus and got them fired? You can not keep building the same thing the same way, if you change carpenters when things don't work out for you.
The hoos tout George Welsh as one of their best coaches ever. Well, WAS he ....or was George Welsh just a crotchety old man who underutilized talent, threw his hat on the ground a lot, and should learn to keep his fingers away from his prodigious nasal protuberance?
I think 4 wins will be tough, 2 or 3 seems more reasonable.
When you go 4-8 in your 3rd year of "Building A Program", including 9 losses in a row to instate rival, you can bet your ass the seat is getting hot. When you set the bar at 7-8 wins, and may get 4-5 in your 4th year, the seat gets even hotter.

If I were a recruit, where would I rather play? For a team that's happy with 7 wins or one where everyone associated with said team is pissed when we don't win more than 10. Obvious choice for me would be the football school.
Jon Oliver is trying to keep expectations low. Funny enough, the Cavalier fans have been pointing to 2013 as their big breakout year, the year when London would have the roster to compete.
Now all you hear is preseason excuse making.
Oliver knows if London goes, he probably get canned as well.
