Welcome to the Terror Dome, baby! Welcome to the Terror Dome!
How so, who else was there out there to get?
Wasn't alive/very old for them, but I have heard that UofL was kind of a dick when it came to media and sharing revenue
"We are done" ? .... says who?
If the so called football elite in this conference start winning games that they need to win we will not have to worry about what other conferences do or don't do. The money will come.
I don't see anyway ACC $ can come close to SEC or B1G $, as we're late to the party for a conference network, and with four schools in the state of North Carolina, that's a tall hurdle. The SEC won't take FSU because UF already has the whole state locked up. Clemson can't go SEC because USC-E has the state locked up. An ACC network in an SEC footprint isn't worth much it seems. Projections are the ACC $ is 10-15 million less than SEC or B1G. Maryland claims that even with a 50 million exit fee being deducted from their B1G payout, their revenue is still more than their projected ACC $. Winning would help, but the ACC is and will be at best the #5 football conference, and recruits will know that.
That's just it. Who's elite? FSU and Miami were supposed to be the bell cows. Miami is a joke and FSU-- while improving-- is a shell of what they were prior to expansion.
If you're insinuating VT needs to win more big games, I agree, but I'm not taking lip from a HOOver. Remember, VT was a "throw-in"-- an "also-ran." According to your brethren, it would be years before we won a game....in any revenue sport..... and some wrote that VT would NEVER win an ACC title in ANYTHING.
Why doesn't UVA step up and fill that 50+ year void and win an outright football title? Tell Clemson to stop waiting 20 years between championships. Tell Tobacco Road to take football as serious as hoops. Maybe then things will change.
VT football has definitely disappointed it's own fans at time but has done nothing for the rest of the ACC except step up fill the void left by eveybody else.
I hate it when people use the excuse: "winning solves everything" Guess what, the Big 10 has only won 2 National titles in over 40 years and they are still the most profitable conference there is because they know business.

We can because we have ESPN in our corner and that honestly may save the conference. ESPN WANTS ND BADLY! The only way they can get them is by having them join the ACC. JS has made our bed with the ACC, it's his end game. If ND stays INDY they are with NBC, B10 with ESPN/FOX/B10, BIG12 FOX/ESPN. The ACC is the only conference with its 1st, 2nd, and 3rd tier rights with ESPN. ESPN has a vested interest in keeping the ACC together or they lose VT/NCST to the CBS, FSU/CU to FOX, and UVA/UNC to FOX,B10N. They want to keep the ACC together and I believe that they will give us a ridiculous deal to get ND on board.
If we take our third tier rights and create an ACC Network, grab ND, then we will make just as much money as the B12, maybe up there with the B10 and SEC. ESPN is in our corner here, they don't want the ACC to implode and they honestly might be the strongest ally to have in this whole mess.

Points well taken. While Va Tech was flourishing much of the rest of the ACC was floundering. Tech by and large has carried the league banner for a number of years. This was a down year for Tech, but you can't ask one team to carry the conference on its shoulder forever. I believe Clemson and FSU have made commitments to reestablish themselves. Miami is recruiting at a high level. And I believe Va Tech will get pointed back in the right direction. A lot of pressure could be relieved on the traditional standard bearers in football if both UNC and UVA would get their programs where they should be. And stop asking just two or three teams to be solely responsible for the football reputation of the ACC year in and year out. Neither UVA or UNC (two flagship schools) have done their part for over a decade.
