Not that there is any credit to his name, but CZY did mention that he isn't coaching currently and that we're looking at a former SEC guy with recruiting connections down south. Joker Phillips would be fine with me as well, but Kentucky isn't down south IMO... Anyways, I looked up Loeffler and it seems he has been involved with some good staffs, regarding both winning and recruiting, and has coached some successful QBs. I would be okay with the move.
I didn't know he coached Auburn last season, but Auburn had no chance in hell of doing anything with their QB situation.

If he's tight with Brady, maybe he can get #12 down here on a Junior day....
Did well at Temple, has worked with a who's who of QB's... I'm down.
Welcome to the Terror Dome, baby! Welcome to the Terror Dome!
I was right! I knew the Gold medal was about Loeffler!
Did you hear Hoo got arrested? Thomas Jefferson would be proud!
Not a terrible choice, much better than Chuck Long. Auburn sucked last year, but as I mentioned in the thunderdome thread it was toxic. That was why Malzahn got the heck out of town the year before. Auburn was ranked #100 under Malzahn in total offense his last year, but that didn't make him a bad OC. Loeffler's offense at Temple was very good.
My number 1 choice right now would be Montgomery from Baylor if he were interested. Behind him would be close between Loeffler and Joker.
41st ranked passing offense in 2009 with Tim Tebow as QB while ranked 10th in scoring.

If you can have the 41st ranked passing offense with a guy who struggles to throw the ball like Tebow, you are a good OC in my book!
I'd take him in a heartbeat. Can't look much into that Auburn flop because nobody was going to do well in that situation. Coached a damn good group of QB's.
Auburn finished 115th in total offense this year under Loeffler.
Can we find one guy, just one, that hasn't had an offense finish in the triple digits?
Evan always on top of things! Thanks.
In college or above, preferably.

I wouldn't look too much into that. Auburn was god awful and their QB situation was terrible.
Loeffler would be a good choice because of experience, but being a young guy is good too for recruiting. He's been there and done that and he's not in Beamer's rolodex. He'd be a very nice addition IMHO.
Can he recruit?
Try to coach Kiehl Frazier and tell me how you feel.
One of the worst QBs I've seen. Plus, he can recruit and is from the SEC. Probably knows coaches he would like to bring in, opposed to Long.
I'm cool with it. Especially after the Long debacle.
Malzahn finished #100 at Auburn the year before. Chizik brought Loeffler in to run Malzhan's offense, and he never had a shot...Chizik didn't want to retool the offense. The year before he finished #34 at Temple, with the #9 rushing offense.
Bring in Loeffler, let him run his offense, and I think he would do a good job.
Edit: I may have been inaccurate about Chizik not wanting to retool the offense. Others are saying that a major issue was that players recruited for the spread were being transitioned to a pro-style offense. That would take time for the transition to be effective.

I don't know who he has recruited exactly... but Florida and Auburn were recruiting powers when he was there. Auburn's class this season was outstanding prior to their season falling apart.
Not a fan...... OC at a horrible Auburn school, OC at Temple meh, QB coach in Detroit when they went 0-16. Color me NOT impressed. Would LOVE to find a young guy with aspirations of becoming VT head coach in 5 years. Perform as an OC and you have the inside track. Im not a fan of a retread.
Could be a good choice; recruited well at FL and Aub; not quantity but quality.
I'd be happy with the hire as well.
Age? Major plus
Position experience? Plus
NFL experience? Plus
Likes to run the ball? Plus
Extra credit...very tight with Tom Brady to this day.
Leaps and bounds better than Chuck Long.
Others mentioning Joker...I'd be happy there as well. Country boy from Kentucky so Blacksburg would not be so foreign.
Now we're talking about some interesting candidates.
Yea but that was against SEC defenses, so they could have been a top-10 offense in any other conference; TIC
If he brings Trooper Taylor with him sign him now.
Agreed. I'm not above that.
Taylor got a lot of crap for his actual coaching abilities along with his shenanigans.
