That Frank meant business with these hires. Frankie still has some fire in him.
I totally agree hope it works out well for us hokies.
HM24, what's the tone around the building? Players excited?
I like them all....I'm particularly happy with Grimes. I'm a firm believer in a solid Oline....that's where it all starts.
I was reading Moorehead's twitter (@Amo8685) and he made a comment about having to pack up his apartment....a Hokie fan piped in and said that for the rent he's payin' in Cali, he could get a real nice house in Blacksburg.....haha....Moorehead said he was looking forward to it.
He went out of his comfort zone and made three great hires.
The offense was so dsyfunctional that it was basically broke. We argued on this board about many facets and it was so hard to pin down who was accountable or responsible for what. I thought it was to the point that it needed basically bulldozed down and rebuilt from scratch. That is pretty much exactly what Beamer did. I was surprised by Beamer and think he stepped up to the plate in a huge way.
I just upvoted everyone, a new offense makes me giddy
Right back at you.
indiscriminate upvoting... the key to a successful thread
Beamer, the new coaches, and this years team makes me HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!!!
Imagine how happy Bud Foster must be to know he no longer must haul all the weight.
I am sure he will keep at it because we need superb defense if we want to go undefeated at some point. No letting off the gas on D.
He needed to.
Exactly, it's not in Buds nature to take his foot off the gas on D.

Mike O'Cain doesn't think this is funny at all.
Is there any plans to change anything with our special teams. As bad as the offense has been special teams has been close to as bad. Hopefully the new coaches get our offense humming but we gotta get beamerball back too.
I don't think we could have asked for any better. By all accounts we got elite coaches for the OL and QB's that are dynamic recruiters and I believe Loeffler as an OC is ready to show what he can do when he has the right talent. Add to that getting a HUNGRY new WR coach that played the position in the NFL in a very precise passing offense and you have a GRAND SLAM. I'm pretty sure our receivers route running is going to become suberb under Moorehead's coaching. You can't play with Manning and not run good routes since their passing game is big on timing.
Frank did what he had to do and made three home run hires. i believe that we set up for our best recruiting year ever in 2014.
I upvoted the helmet!
Loudon, I was thinking the exact same thing today. Since '99 we have had 2 or 3 defenses that were Nation Champion level D's but our offenses were only average. Behind closed doors Bud has had to be extremely frustrated in the past when his D plays out of their minds only to lose a close game bc of an inept offense. I am so freaking pumped about the possibility of having a good offense. Feels good to know we wl be in it with highly rated OL recruits too. HOKIES BABY
winning post, and I just upvoted everyone else who contributed to this thread
The 2012 offense was absolutely a disaster and made it difficult to watch. I think this was the result several things
1) significant turn over in the starting line up - WR position really hurt us here
2) a lack of vision and experience in play calling
3) insufficient talent in the RB position
I am hoping that going into 2013 the following will result in a significant improvement in the offense. Obviously there will also need to be an upgrade in talent at certain positions but that will not happen over night.
1) More aggression and less mistakes in OL play
2) Play calling that has a better flow and takes advantage of the weaknesses in the defense.
3) Better talent at the RB position
Spot On on the OL recruiting. How many times in the past have we ended up having to take a guy who is a project on the OL because we struck out recruiting most of top targets or have ended up moving a guy from TE to the OL? Too many times IMHO. Now we have a coach who can recruit top notch OL and the days of having to take sub-par talent or moving guys from TE may be over for good. I can't wait to see how it plays out.
I would add #4 to the first list as OL play that hit rock bottom.
For number 3, I wouldn't say it was insufficient talent at RB.......if you're going to call out the RB position, it's more like we didn't have a super hero at RB like DW or RW to overcome the poor Oline play. In my book, solid to very good Oline play will make an average running back pretty damn good. Conversely, a solid to very good RB won't have a whole lot of success with an average Oline. It all starts up front.
