I see JC is tweeting about the final player ratings and a few players have gone up. Checked Fisher out and he didn't get that 5th star. Has everything been updated already and he's not a 5 star? or Is he going to get that 5th star? What's the rationale behind him not getting the 5 star (if that's the case), seeing as how he had a great performance while competng with other 5 stars at his same position?

247 rates players in connection with NFL draft trends. This is why you see a lot of OL and DL that have become so important to the foundations of NFL teams.
How many safeties go in the first round?
12 in the last 10 years. 06 and 07 had 3 and 4 respectively. I thought he was viewed as the best safety there and outplayed a few other 5 star safeties. I know he was on the cusp of that 5th star, i just figured what he did at the UA event would push him over the edge.
Ya that was my gripe with the system, 5 star is about talent, not how many at your position are already 5 star. Let the pros worry about draft order
The only reason Fisher doesn't have 5 stars, IMO, is that he was very underrated initially and despite his performances, he hasn't been able to overcome where he was placed initially.
I think the fact that Fisher doesn't have a true position hurts him in the rankings. I think Fisher is going to be great, but I'm not sure he's one of the best 32 players in the Country.
FWIW, I do think he's a better prospect than Vonn Bell who's a current five star.
I asked JC once if there was a cap on the # of 5 star prospects in each class. He said there wasn't necessarily a certain number of 5 stars. Are you saying there's only 32/yr?
A 247 mod posted that there will only be 32 5 stars each year which coincides with the number of first round picks which they believe is appropriate.
Looks like Pfaff didn't get a 4th star.. I thought he deserved to be a 4 star.. Great film..
I don't think they are done with the ratings yet. JC is releasing updates periodically on the blue board. I'm gonna hold out hope.
I think if 1) HF was the highest ranked four star heading into the UA event and 2) he outplayed 5 star safetys at the event and earned "Best Safety," he obviously deserves to be a 5 star. I mean how does that not seem right????
Final rankings come out tomorrow. Fisher isn't going to be a five-star. Our guys who evaluated him at Under Armour felt like he was an excellent prospect, just not a five.

I don't understand that logic at all. What if there aren't 32 "5 star" quality guys one year? Are they going to just give undeserving guys that elusive 5th star just because of a weak class? And what does a high school ranking have to do with the nfl draft? Silly logic if true.
Thanks for the response JC
Or they didn't want to explain to some other fanbase why their 5 star got demoted to make room for Fisher.
This kid showed out and was a top performer every time out! He stood out at even the biggest events and did this consistently. To me this is dissapointing and shows some disrespect to Holland. I hope HF agrees and plays with a chip on his shoulder.
247 does the best evals out there, but I think Holland just got shafted. We'll see when he suits up as a rover for us if he is 5 star or not, but I got my money on Fisher and I wonder how many of the guys they have 5 stars right now, DON'T go in the first round, but watch HF do just that. Hope he makes them eat that 5th star.
Sorry to sound bitter but I guess I kinda am, LOL.... :-)
JC, a slight detour to a different player. Matuapuaka is an 83. He was the best defensive performer on his team at the recent all-star game (not sure which), and he cleaned up at summer camps where I remember he was a top performer. He's proven to be very intelligent, and is a stoudt and athletic 220lbs. The only real knock on him is that he's 5'11' (or on that order). 83 seems like a low score to me, I'd bump him to 85 minimum.
London Fletcher is under 6'. And he's going to the NFL HOF. I'm stoked about Matuapuaka.
and he has an offer from Stanford, and their defense is no joke
London Fletcher HOF???? Not likely
Care to explain? Hes only led the NFL in tackles for how many years a row? And remind me how many games he has missed in his career, and he has a Super Bowl. Point is that you can be a successful MLB while being under 6'. Andrew could be a great one, just like London.
So, he was the safety MVP at the UA game, ahead of a couple 5 star safeties, in an event where everybody is present, and you dont think he is a five star? Doesnt make sense. If you have a cap on the number of 5 star safeties, you should drop one of the guys he outplayed and move Holland up, imo.
Agree 100%. I'd like to hear the logic as to why Holland isn't a 5 star talent. What exactly is holding him back, and why are the others ahead of him.
