Already getting some messages, but starting a new thread here to make it easier to discuss...
If anyone has an interest in helping to get a grassroots effort underway to help persuade our admins that we mean business with VT to the SEC, please PM me with your name and email. I'm not necessarily going to organize this whole thing, there are definitely way more qualified folks out there - but at least going to help get it underway. The fans at A&M had a huge impact on their fate, I think we can do the same. It's time for the fans, students, alums, local businesses and others to speak up and be heard!
An an added note, I think it's dangerous to get caught up in the current stream of rumors. Sometimes it's fun and gives us hope, sometimes it's downright depressing. But this is most likely a longer term situation, and we need our voices to be heard in a loud and very effective way!

What exactly are you planning?
Did you hear Hoo got arrested? Thomas Jefferson would be proud!
need around 50k on the drill field chanting S-E-C, S-E-C,
Right now, I'm just gathering names of people who are interested in helping to organize the effort.
So no details yet, but we need to come up with a comprehensive strategy to rally the fan base and make it known that we want the SEC. In my mind, the best way to put pressure on the administration is to demonstrate to ESPN and other media outlets how passionate we are about a possible move to the SEC, and get them on the case. How to get there is where all the work lies. We can definitely win this PR battle, and if we win the PR battle - it will be very difficult for our admins to make any other decision. It will also help convince the SEC, if there's any doubt there about the school they want to pursue.
So - more coming soon, but if you want to help give me a shout via PM.
start a "vt out of the acc" twitter and facebook. Get a bunch of followers and maybe people (the AD, Prez, and ESPn) start to take notice.
This is how TAMU got out from under Texas and is now happy in the SEC free of the Longhorns. We need to strike out on our own and see what our true potential is. Old guard is scared, but I believe in VT!
VT to the SEC Facebook page. I'll start it right now. Come find it!
Also, write letters. Call the Presidents office. Don't let anyone shoot you down and tell you it's pointless!
Maybe we should get A&M fans to help
Someones started one already i think.
Facebook is a social utility that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them. People use Facebook to keep up with friends, upload an unlimited number of photos, post links and videos, and learn more about the people they meet.
We'll add that to the list - reaching out to A&M and finding out what worked, didn't work - etc. Getting their help would be huge.
Also maybe we need to reach out to the other teams in the SEC.. get their help in promoting the move.. I know most fan bases in the SEC would love to have us.
This needs to be pinned.
Here's the official Facebook page!!! /VirginiaTechToTheSEC
I hope your efforts fail
Email going out shortly - send me a PM if you want to get the email.
Downvotes for you.
We need to stick to 1 b/c here's another one: http://www.facebook.com/VTtoSec
I hear ODU is looking to expand their fanbase, I sent over your résumé.
THE ONLY THING I'M ADDICTED TO IS WINNING--CHARLIE SHEEN
the blue board would be a good place to start. Maybe we can get the attention of a few SEC folks on there who can then spread the word on their board which should get the ball rolling... I wouldnt do anything until we have an official FB/twitter account.
Then DON'T stick to the one you linked. Stick to the first one in this thread and the one that has it's own thread going in The Tunnel forum.

Welcome to the Terror Dome, baby! Welcome to the Terror Dome!
I just sent an email out to everyone who sent me a note. If you didn't get the email - check your spam filter, if you don't find it there let me know and I'll send again.
Hope it doesn't sound too overwhelming and I don't sound like a dictator! :) But I really do think if we organize it in the beginning it'll be a lot less overwhelming and a whole lot more effective.
Regarding Facebook and Twitter: I think we should hold off posting our links on other message boards (Hokies, SEC, etc) until we figure out the ones we're going to use, get them tweaked design wise and have people managing the content. I think it's important we come across as having our **** together, then we can blow it out. In my email - I asked if some folks want to run the social media pages. Send me a note back if you do.
As mentioned in a previous thread we now have a twitter page which will be announced shortly, but try and find it early and give us a follow if you do #VTtoSEC
