What do you think? Will he actually do a legit search this offseason and bring in a new OC? One with new ideas? A new offense? I really want to think that he will.
If he doesn't it will be bad...I mean I can't imagine another year with this joke of a staff.
Based on his track record, no.
Nope....and what is worse, instead of bringing someone like Todd Washington, I see the failed former OL coach Stiney taking over the OL again. Just musical chairs. Frank runs a retirement club..coaches stay until they die. If we get a new coach it will be another retirement club member with retirement club thinking. What good OC would take this job until Beamer's O (lack of) philosophy knowing Hite can overrule his playcalling at any time...particularly on critical downs and in the redzone?
FRANK must be forced to retire.
While I as frustrated also people. There have been hints of change. I agree with all on here if Frank does nothing then time for a COMPLETE change. By saying that I see a new Oline coach and OC. Just don't know what direction Frank Tanks. A shock change where he gives up the offense. Or a chicken little change.
With all that being said it wouldnt hurt to bench cancer's or let's say under performing peeps. Oh that Oline play must improve under someone. I agree that I am not for Stiney being that man. But if he get's it I will give him a chance. Getting right one's on the field wouldn't hurt. Our Left Guard play this yearis sickening and pitiful.
I'll take someone that can teach kids to execute.
Festus, I still remember Stiney with the OL when Newsome came in. The OL was under performing then and just worsened under Newsome. We were so glad to get Stiney away from the OL I suppose it never dawned on us it could get worse. So I guess the funny thing is that the OL may be slightly better with Stiney, we just need some new blood with our OL IMO and not settle for slightly better.
I think he will. Folks keep bringing up that he hasn't done it the last 10 years, but in the last 10 years we haven't lost 6 games in a season. Losing changes everything....we may not even make a bowl this year. There will be pressure on Beamer and Weaver from the big money. Both guys know that the fanbase is fragile right now and they don't want the sellout streak to end.
We open 2013 with a big game in Atlanta. Coach Beamer and Jim Weaver want Hokies in seats down there. Not going to happen if there isn't a shakeup offensively. And I don't think its going to be Ralph.
What I hope for is that he will finally step up to the festering problem and hire a new OC and let him choose his staff. Then name a competent person to coach ST's.
Based on his proir lack of attention to these problems and his undying paternalism I don't believe he is emotionally capable of this kind of change.
Man, do I hope I'm wrong.
